I'm really curios to see how ID can pull off this story-intensive FPS game, becuz in the past, its been about walking in a room and blowing peoples heads off with laser guns and rocket launchers but too think that the next Doom might be Half-Life is really interesting!

What do you mean its going to be half-life? I think they will keep it simple, I just want to see if they can throw a ton of monsters on the screen at once. http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yeah man! It's not gonna be 1/2 life! It'll be friggin DOOM! Will be VERY interesting to see how many monsters ID can get to attack you without getting the chugga Chugga's. 64 bit textures and all. I dunno how ole Carmack is gonna do it. But DOOM will never be like 1/2 life, and thats FINAL!! DOOM WILL BE DOOM!!!

well Quake1 didnt really have a fascinating storyline behind it, and neither does Q3... its kinda the same story... go out and kill as many creatures as possible. I dont think theyll be able to make Doom3 as intriguing and capturing a story as Half-Life, but i dont think it will be the mindless bloodbath it originally was... we can only take so much of running a chainsaw into those brown zombie creatures, and jumping over lava pools... anyway, if rumors are true, were all gonna need new video cards to run the game, so better start saving up for the NV20, Rampage/Spectre, and Radeon2.

i want doom to be fun to play gameplay wise...sure deus ex is one of the best games ever but it gets so good it becomes a little bogged down and you don't want to play it i want doom to be a better quake1 real intensive combat emphasize the weapons, cool original monsters (something doom and q1 had but q2 didn't)scary corridor like maps with not has much emphasise on bloody find the key open the door i mean really if the aliens are taking over the world then they aren't going to leave they key sitting around and have the plot only extend as to giving you reasons for doing each thing

I'm looking forward to D3, although, if it's like wot people r saying, 1/2 life style, it might throw the biggest saling point of it, mindless game, or SWCOS(shoot wot comes on screen), well that's my opnion anyway... Also it would be interesting, if they had different worlds, you know, like Q1 had, and doom the original, i think that will get people playing over and over again, that's propably the best way to get a SWCOS to become replayed, well there's netplay aswell, but that's a whole different story http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/wink.gif

coming from the twisted minds of id Software, created by John Carmack -- pretty much the Pimp Daddy of the FPS genre -- and following in the steps of Q3A, u know D3 is gonna have a kickass mutliplayer setup. You know the graphics engine is gonna kick ***, and the characters/textures will be so detailed itll have ppl stopping in the middle of a fragfest to look around and go "ooooohh" & "aaaawwwhhhh" before they go *SPLAT* and gibs are painted all over the walls!!

Know I wept"

I remember reading an articlae about what doom was SUPPOSED to be. It was supposed to visceral and cinematic with a deep story. There were supposed to be multiple characters to play with different possible weapons and different abilities. Plus there was supposed to be network coop multiplayer.

I'll try looking that up and see if I can post a link.

network co-op play would be kickass. that is the one thing i wish more games had. i actually enjoyed that feature on Perfect Dark for the N64, it was practically the only way i would play it, that and 4 player DM. i would probably cream my pants if Doom 3 had network Co-Op.

SYST3M, why dont you write the guys at ID and tell them about it. If they get enough email on it they might consider it. Im sure they want this game to be a huge hit and this may be the way to start the ball rolling. I think network Co-Op would be increadable.

I posted about current games with that a while ago, and really didn't get much responses other than that it would be cooL!

A really well thought out coop mode would rock. Though I think the game would have to scale to the number of people playing, like the number of monsters and amo.

Can but hope! (and e-mail them)

Seems to me like you people should try Serious Sam. The tech test released 6 months ago can easily handle 30+ monsters on the screen (and it does it on my PII 400/TNT1). It also has amazing co-op support. Croteam brags that you can play an excellent game of coop with a 300+ ping connection. The Multiplayer test comes out on Dec 15. Think of the possibilities when you can have a level over 10 miles square. Or not square (there is multigravity support). check it out www.croteam.com (http://www.croteam.com)
