I've been looking at some of the screenshots and I feel that the look is, well, to cartoonie.... The buildings and guard towers just don't seem as intimidating as they used to be. Added to that the players themselves look like characters in dk2 or something outta a kids sing along game. Am I the only one that likes the classic castles and watch tower look; along with mean, war scarred heros and units? Or did i completely miss the point of the whole warcraft series and missout no the laughable part of it?

Nope. You're not the only one. I wonder if they went more cartoony because their adventure game failed and they really wanted to do something like that.
We'll see. I'm sure it will still rock.

Hmm...I'm more concerned about the gameplay. When I got WC2 and the expansion, I loved it. It was really the first real time strategy that I got into. Now I've heard that WC3 will have RPG elements, and I've never really been a big fan of them....so I guess we'll see!
BTW, I still think it will look cool!

i agree... im more interested in the gameplay... i mean D2 sucked a** in graphics, even with the mighty Glide effects, but the gameplay was fun, so the game was worth playing... plus, i really liked the look of DK2, and im glad Blizzard has kept the comic appeal of WC in their upcoming title.

My memories of Warcraft 3 was that it was a diversion. Why? It was announced an hyped when Diablo 2 SHOULD have been released.
We all have our good memories of "Yes, mee lord". Let's not spoil them.

Warcraft 3 does look cartoony, I dont mind it though, I loved WC2 and am willing to give WC3 a try. I also like the RPG elements. Makes it more interesting http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Personally I'm thinking anyone who isn't looking forward to this game (and is into real-time strategy or RPGs) should be speared in the gonads. True, it looks "cartoonie" and it is very colorful, but you're missing the point! It is surely going to be a groovy game where you're the mastermind behind the battle and ultimately your helariously stupified crew of "grunts" will be doing all the work for you. If you've read about the game, you know it is still reasonably real-time strategy, but there is an RPG element which will allow you, as the head-honcho, to alter the course of the game, make things easier for yourself and more difficult for the other guy; all in ways that are creatively genius.
My question is why be sceptical about a game when you could be posting messages in forums about games you do like, rather than try to cut down what is already superior? I mean, has anyone ever really been that disappointed by a Blizzard game? No. The reason they didn't do Warcraft Adventures was because they felt it wasn't going to be "Blizzard material." So trust me and trust Blizzard in that this game is going to be one of the best, if not THE best game of 2001!

I'm wary only because games that get changed in mid-production have got several things working against them, not least a schizophrenia inherent in the gameplay. I hope they really broke it down to the basic level before rebuilding...
Make no mistake. I'll try it.
Warcraft II convinced me I should get a PC.
Starcraft convinced me I don't need to leave my house.
but come on already, Blizzard.
release the damn thing.

No, me too.
Castles, scars, war music. PEON's "uh? what?". That's what made Warcraft II. I like fantasy - but not "cartoonish".
I was very disappointed at Starcraft for its "space, chicks, weirdness, and selective "rock music"". Better gameplay though.
Haven't tried Warcraft III yet. Hmm - time to look for demo! No demo yet!!! http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/frown.gif
Anyway: take the movies out! I don't like them. They take up space on the CD. The money spent on them comes out of the money spent on game play. NOOOOO. No movies.

Are some of you saying that you don't think WC2 looked cartoony? Geesh. I love that game, and have always thought it looked cartoony. If none of you are saying this, disregard this post.
I think WC3 will be great, and the graphics seem to be a continuation of that same look, based on the few screenshots I've seen.

Yeah, I agree that WCII had a distinct style that was much 'lighter' than SC. I love 'em both for different reasons. But I have to wait until late 2001? (oops-this just in, release date moved back to 2003.. Ha Ha-jus' kiddin')
