There are so many to choose from..
Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Horizons, Asheron's Call 2, the list goes on and on.
Me personally, I'm waiting for all 4 of those listed above http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/smile.gif

All but AC2 listed above, and maybe Earth & Beyond if it turns out to be good.

I would have to say Earth and Beyond if its REALLY everything its cracked up to be.
I am more into the Massive Multiplayer Online First Person Shooters though http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/smile.gif (MMOFPS) then RPG's :\.
As for MMOFPS I would say HALO baby!
But that would have been tight if Red Faction where a MMOFPS.
Tribes 2 OMG is still wicked I mean to me 32 Players is crammed and hella laggy I dont know how a T1 could hold 64 Players or more with these future games.
Some claiming thousands and millions per server.

Can you say Star Wars: Galaxies. I can't wait to join the dark side as a Jedi. http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/smile.gif
However, I've heard that it will be extremely hard to become a Jedi. Hm well, I will just have to put my life on pause for awhile, hire a person that only has one mission, run down to the local pizza store 3 times a day and get me some food. Then the whole Galaxies community will shake in fear only by hearing my name being said out loud. Muuahahah!!!
Ok, I'll stop trying to be like Darth Vader now.

I'm actually going to pick up Anarchy Online in a few more months after I'm sure that all the bugs are fixed.
Practically every game reviewer in the world who knows their stuff has been saying that this game has the potential to be the funnest mmorpg yet if it would just fix the bugs that plague it, and I have heard that things are being fixed almost every other day... I'm hopeful. I don't really like the Star Wars universe, so I'll probably pass on that (though I do want Jedi Outcast).

I was in the last stage of beta for AO, and aside from the lag created by that logging protocol, I just didn't find it that fun. There wasn't much to it.. kill monsters, get money, buy a bigger gun, level, go to a new zone and repeat. I know this is most games, but it just didn't have much else.. I don't see trading doing much at all.. seeing as how you can buy almost everything, for a price. I never did get into missions though.. I dunno, AO looked great, but it just didn't appeal to me

AArrrgghhhh I just wrote an essay on the differences between Dark Age of Camelot and Everquest..tried to post, got the message that I had typed in the wrong password, hit back, and everything I had written was , of course, gone. Anyhow, Dark AGe of Camelot's only resemblence to EQ is that they are both fantasy MMORPG's.
Horizons seems like vapourware olthough you never know. Star wars galaxies = verant = hmmm
WoW = blizzard = faaaar off .

Went down yesterday and put my deposit down on Daoc. I played UO for 2 years and EQ for a year and a half, beta tested AC and AO looking forward to this game, hoping that it will give me something fresh. What I'm really looking forward to is the PvP, I missed that in EQ. 6 of the people I played EQ with are also gona try Daoc, thing that sucks is we have to play on the same realm or we can't even communicate in game.

Are the realms not just different names for servers? If so, then that's the same case for every MMORPG, so you shouldn't be surprised or saddened by it.
If this is not so, then nm.. I'm thinking of b.net's realms cause they are different servers (but you can talk to each other)

I'll probably pick up DAoC after it's been out for a week or 2 so i can be pretty sure i didnt blow another $50 (like AO + 3 months prepaid- ick http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/frown.gif ) Someone asked about realms... well there are 3 realms: Midgard (vikings), Hibernia (tree hugging elves), and Albion (King Arthur's realm- normalish human types). There are about a half dozen servers scheduled to be up for release, including a RP server, a test server, and lots of normal servers. Also, probably a "hardcore" server for d00dish powerleveling types (yippie for them!) I think the Realm vs. Realm aspect will be quite awesome, and from what i hear from beta testers, there are very very few bugs, the classes are pretty balanced, and servers are very stable... so basically it's not AO http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/smile.gif See you in Midgard!

This is to stop cheating! You could log in a toon with one realm and then talk to your friend in the other realm and tell him what is going on and what their strat is. On a side note too. You can have up to 4 toons, but they all have to be in the same realm on the same server. If you want a toon in a different realm you have to do it on another server.

While not exactly MASSIVELY multiplayer, the only multiplayer RPG I'm looking forward to is Neverwinter Nights. The MMORPGs have a LONG way to go before they're anything more then hack'n'slash with hundreds or thousands of players. You can bow down to all the hype you want coming from all the ones in development, it's going to be at least one or two more generations before the roleplaying aspect really starts getting effectively integrated into these games.
I beta tested and played UO, EQ, AC, and I've beta tested AO. I've been keeping tabs on all the latest one coming out, but I'm taking all the hype and promises with a HUGE grain of salt and I'm going to wait until those games PROVE their claims before I put any of my time and effort into them. Right now, NWN is by far my best bet for the type of online gameplay I've been looking for.

I've also been waiting for NWN. I don't really care how long it takes so long as it lives up to half of whats been promised.

I'm waiting for one that doesn't bore me. EQ just got too dull after a while and AO is just about the same.

It's going to be a long time before I try another. Played EQ, and got annoyed, primarily because of the way wizards got screwed in the "balancing". Was quite excited about AO, no more camping!, but it got boring real quick. So, back to normal games for a while.

I agree, it wouldn't hurt to add some sweet non linear gameplay with amazing storyline to all this hacking, Most importantly of all i would like to see a game where chars get attributes from the ish they do, not a massive online ffa sprawl for items, i have had my fill of treasure hunting games in diablo ii, thank you,
P.S. do you have to pay in order for it to be thought of as a MMO game?
