Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Blizz doesn't have Warcraft 3 released till mid 2002, which probably puts starcraft 2 at 2005, 2006 perhaps. I honestly think that anything less than revolutionary will be touted as a failure.

It won't be for a while. Probably not announced till WAY after Warcraft III is out. Blizzard supports its new games very very well and donate a huge amount of time to patches and the like for War3.

i never really liked the concept of warcraft 3............making an rts where you focus on upgrading and leveling every single unit? cmon, thats far too much micromanagement. and giving every unit equipment and inventory. ya, in a battle you have time to make every single unit use an individual item.

They are working on starcraft 2 as we speak. What do you think Warcraft III is? They are working hard on Warcraft III because they will just pimp the graphics engine for Starcraft 2. Also, check out their web site... they are looking for a 3d map designer for an "undisclosed project," [read: startcraft 2]. While the Warcraft III team does the mechanics, others are working on the story, 3d maps, character/unit designs and what not. Not only that, but it makes sence. Diablo II extension pack is for or less done, Warcraft is (roughly done) more on the refining stage; so whats next? They gotta be workin' on Starcraft 2 as their next "big thing." Well, that my opinion.

you guys have seen how they mention how they are in the late alpha stage and are doign real well with the alpha stage and all that stuff.... so far nothing about it. alst i read is that they aren't sure how the game will really be (meaning story line) they have the basics and all, but not finished that... so how cn you have warcraft3 in a good alpha if the story line isn't even fanalized? and the beta time lasts what? 3 months?

Do you know whatexactly about starcraft is changing cuz i play the original more than u know and i like how its strategy and timing and if they make it into something crappy ill be pretty pissed. To answer the question above, in the original movie, those are like auto parts salvagers it looks like thats why one says that they "hit pay dirt this time", and there terrans or humans and thats there ship that is destroyed buy a ship that looks like a Carrier but shoots what looks like a blue yamato gun, so its up for speculation. In the second movie, the zerg that are in the trench when the one on the right is blown up are hydralisks, because they are standing uprite and because zerglings are on all four and run like a dog as seen in gameplay. The look similar to a miniture sized Lurker except no spikes. The lurker can be seen in the booklet from the Brood wars Cd, unless you dont own the original.Yup yup

Blizzard can't pass up something as big as starcraft2, If they don't do it someone in Korea will take it upon themselves,(koreans eat sleep and drink starcraft) anyways my bet is it is gonna be much more than a year away if they are doing it, which ill stake my life that they are. See one thing that is gonna be tough as hell to do is matching the original, that is gonna be tough, this game is gonna have to be perfect. I expect they will attempt more than 3 races, like WC3 and that means lots of balncing to work out.

But their production schedule blows hobbit snot. They've made all winners, so they feel they can sit and do nothing and extend a game's release date indefinetly (Diablo 2, nothing more needs to be said).

Yeah it is supposed to be on a smaller scale this time.. you will have units and they plan on changing it so that you can select each individual unit in battle and use magics, etc. It sounds like the AI will get a huge advantage to me, but i won't know until i see it.

In the same e-mail where the release date of the Diablo II Expansion Set was discussed, Blizzard PR also mentioned the secret project they have in shrouded development. Any Blizzard fan would be ecstatic to read about when the secret project (no, not StarCraft 2!) will be revealed. Here we have it:

"Our next big announcement is at ECTS [European Computer Trade Show] this September. It's not Starcraft 2 (the people who would be doing that are doing W3), but I can tell you without exaggeration that this is a huge announcement and one that will dominate coverage of the show.
