Windows using more system memory for disk caching(vfat). The network server uses a whopping 40k! LOL! So I'm sure you have enough memory to use it. When I read the title of this post, I figured it would be about computer architecture, so your message comfuses me. In Windows 9x, I don't know of any hard drive atributes that allow your computer differentiate between a desktop and server. In Windows NT, you have the option of chaging your hard drive's file system to NTFS vs. the FAT16/32 file system of Windows 9x, if that's what you mean. Is that what you mean? Using the server type increases the cache management i think, but it does boot performance. Ive been trying to find this in win2k, but no luck. Mabee the 2 roles are in win2k Pro and win2k server seperate? ------------------ Compaq Armada E500 650MHz PIII 128MB RAM 8MB ATI rage mobility 11GB hard drive/DVD dual booting win98/2k who said you cant game on a notebook???? Bateluer 10-05-2000, 08:33 PM I know what you are talking about. It simply means that Windows caches more frequently used data to the hdd and ram. Speeds up performance slightly ------------------ When Can I overclock a terahertz cpu? rock 10-09-2000, 09:34 AM While I'm not certain what the actual differences are between the two settings, I'm confident that installing CahceMan is a better choice than either one.
