it says its 7ns non-ECC...
is that bad??

7ns is the clock cycle length. As frequency = 1/time for one cycle, this ram is probably PC133, but could reach higher:

1/(7x10^-9)= 142MHz

You probably don't need ECC (you'd know if you wanted it, typically used for servers)

thanks a lot, but, does that mean 7ns is better than 6???
typically, people advise to have 6ns RAM...
so i was wondering if these 7ns are not as good...

Yes, all other things being equal, 6 is better than 7, but unless you are doing some heavy FSB overclocking, you won't be able to use it to its full potential anyway.

well, thanks, very cool....
cos i found some CHEAP ones!!!
$80 for 128mb....

i wont be overclocking like crazy since i have a 800mhw athlon ( 8 X 100mhz FSB)
so ill be running them at 100mhz anyway, it's just that some people here and there say AMDs prefer running with 133mhz RAM.

one more question, what's better 192mbRAM at 100mhz, or 128mb at 133??? given the fact that the FSB will be 100 anyway? (that definitely sounds like the stupidest question, but i need serious help here!! LOL)

Although the Athlon's FSB has a clock of 100MHz, it can transfer two items of data per cycle (Double Data Rate), giving it an effectively 200MHz FSB.

Most Athlon boards allow the FSB to be run at 100 and the RAM to be run at 133 (usually by a setting in the BIOS, such as RAM CLK = HCLK + PCI, ie 100+33)

It depends on what you're doing; for most purposes as to which RAM configuration would be best. Most of the time, I'd go for 128MB PC133.

If your running Winnt/2k then go with the 192Mb@100Mhz, in Win9x 128@133 will probably be best.

I'm not sure about Linux, never really used it on a machine with <256Mb (except my internet gateway box, it had 16Mb edo for a while)

thank u guys...
really cool
only prob is that there arent much details about these 128mb bars...could be low-low-superlow grade.
i would spend the dough to get higher quality.

Go to www.crucial.com, (http://www.crucial.com,) they make quality RAM that you can trust. $85.49 for PC133 CAS3, $91.79 for PC133 CAS2, I know you are wondering what the hell "CAS" is try this link http://sysopt.earthweb.com/articles/latency/index.html Using CAS2 over CAS3 settings can improve performance as much as 10%-15% in certain applications, but more like 5%-10% on average, with that said, it's worth the extra money to get the CAS2 RAM.
