I have an external modem on COM port 2. I used Xteq setup (a great program) to change the buffer from 128 to 1024. How will this affect my ping times? How will it affect my bandwith (will it even?). The program said that it should help increse my bandwith slightly, but i may have misinterpreted what they said.

I don't think increasing the buffer will improve your ping time or your bandwidth. A 56K modem can only transmit/receive data so fast; it's a fixed quantity. The larger buffer might actually *increase* your lag since the contents of the buffer wouldn't be transmitted until the buffer had filled, IMHO. YMMV.

I would take cracKrock's side on this one.
