I've never bothered to actually pre order a game.
But Morrowind may be my exception.
Question tho: considering that Bethesda (makers of Morrowind) have put a release date of May 2002, If I pre order it, from the official website, would I be likely to receive my copy quicker, than say pre ordering from Amazon or some other such place?
Anybody have any opinions?

If you pre- order, I don't think it makes a difference in time if you pre- order from Bethesda or a big online store such as Amazon or EBworld. They will deliver the game very closely to each other, IMO.

Actually it might since it is coming directly from them. Pre-Ording from EBGames sucks dont do it. You rarely recieve your game 1-3 days after its release and dont even count on receiving it day of release. About 30-40% of the time others including myself have gotten *cough* Pre-Order games 1-2 weeks later. EBGames has just turned to crap in the recent year and year in a half. Amazon on the other hand is a all new story since I have not ordered there before.
I would stick with anything but EBGames.

Pre orders blow. Unless its a reserve thing like at a real store, do not pre order. With a reserve, you can go to the store and pick it up on opening.

And this is what they said:
"We make no promises about when pre-orders ship. Generally, we ship them when we ship the game to retail stores. Where you live and the shipping option you choose will decide how long it takes to get from you once it ships."
So I guess that answers my question.
Thanks for the replies, I'll not bother pre-ordering.
Evern if I took the quickest shipping option - it will cost like, 22$ more anyway. So there's really no point.

main thing about preordering a game...
how many preordered Dakatana? how about Duke Nukem Forever....
point being.. make sure the game is going to come out.. would hate to spend money on something and then not be able to have it for years.. thats just wrong...

I have to agree w/ K()th here. I've preordered games from EB numerous times and have most often gotten them either the day they hit the stores or the day after, and that's with their standard shipping.

the last game I pre-oredered was Metal Gear Solid 2 for PS2 - I got it for £28 on tesco.com in the Uk, instead of £45 retail. Also I got it on the day of release, right in time for when I came out of my MCSE exam so I was very happy! Pretty cool if you ask me. I always pre-order - especially as you can just forget about it, and is sometimes cheaper.

Look the ONLY way to do it is at a store, dont mess around with internet pre orders, you know a store is going to have the game release day but you dont know how many copies so do yourself a favor and pre order

according to posters at the official Morrowind site's forum: people that Preordered from Bethesda directly are ALREADY getting their game (those that opted for the next day air - and paid thru the nose for it).
So i guess, it may have been better to preorder from them. I'm still waiting for the game to hit the shelves.

I've pre-ordered ten games from ebgames.com and so far I've never had a problem. I've always received the game day of release or day after.
ebgames.com (http://www.ebgames.com) ROCKS!!
