Herr is mine: neat and functional (aka I didn't use so many tie wraps and tuck wires beside stuff so much that is would be a huge chore to change something around inside my case).

Thats the sound card so the one on the left goes to the CDROM or whatever & the one on the right not sure where that goes..
I need to rework all that Black Loom its a little to much.

The lowest pci card is my Audigy. One wire is the analog connetion to my Plextor, and the other is the digital sound connection. I pluged them to the plextor because of someting I read about it being very good for cd reading (forgot exactly what the technology it uses is:p).I'm also pretty happy w/ my floppy cable, it is actually good that it is flat since I can run it under my mobo.

Yeah it kinda is a bit much. It looks good, but I'd think all that black tubbing would hurt the airflow (for the psu wires) since it makes all the psu wires fatter. But if you are getting good temps, keep them, then look pretty awesome. But I have seriously seen some horrible stuff with that tubeing. One guys case was pretty much filled by all the tubbing. Great job TAZ!!!

Nice, nice. I always like clean case wiring better when it is done w/ flat cables w/o being rounded. Much more challenging. I applaud your work.

The tubing TAZTG has on his psu?
I think he got it from an "Autozone" type store, so it's likely dependent on how much things are around you.

I think I may do something "kind of" like what TAZ has done, but I'm going to swoop around the back more than him, so you can't see many wires.

I'm just having trouble finding molex extenders. :(
Either way, I'll have some pics up once I get my round cables and all. :)

I think I did a good job considering how freaking full my case is (total of 7 IDE devices  )

And the GF4 just squeeked in there... I had to take out the one set of black IDE cables just to install it.

I do have some plans for this weekend to make it even neater... :)

Put that floppy some where else, and spread those drives out. You can put a 92mm fan in those drive cages if you take out the 80mm fan mount thing (the purple thing). And arrange 2 drives per cage like I did (so that plenty of air goes over both sides of each drive.

Here, this is my opinion on the best intake/ hdd configuration for an sx1030 case requires some minor modding:

http://neorevolutionary.tripod.com/Ideal1030.jpg

It would be a good idea to remove the floppy bay covers to maximize air flow on the top fan. I'd recomend putting a fan grill on the side of the top fan facing the front of the case (or you could drill a bunch of holes in the floppy bay covers and leave them there).

Edit: remeber, paste the url into address bar.

Yea, I got them from Trak-Auto, Radio Shack also carries them. I am planning on redoing the wiring like OCking suggested awhile back. Hey I have seen Molex Extenders at Best Buy. Plus local Puter Stores should carry them. :D

Thanks, TAZ.
I'm thinking I'll run them largely in back of my case and tape 'em to the mobo tray with the psu cable covers over whatever's showing inside the case.

I may make a trip down to RadioShack soon (aka today).

How much do the molex connectors usually run? $2?

In theory, the air flow makes it better. Plus, it just plainly looks better to have clean cabling without all that mess.

What I really was going to post, though, was that I got 4' of the psu covers like TAZTG has and am just waiting to buy some molex extenders before I put it on. I'm ordering my round cables the same day as I'm ordering my Xabre 400, as well, so I'll wait until I get them to post pictures, which'll be next week. :)

CrawlingEye

4 pin molex extenders, take the cables and tape them to the back of the mobo tray and that should be good. If you want to go all out and get it looking like TAZTG's, you can go out and buy some cable covers from an auto-store, as I did, which costed me $3 for a 4' piece which is 1/2" thick. :)

pudad
08-07-2002, 01:42 PM
Hey Insey. Basically do what I did w/ the rear fans cables. Tuck your unused power cables in unused drive bays. And try running you front fan cables behind those hdd cages. As for the ide cables: you can round them (I think that is really gross looking for the most part) but if you do, don't cut up the little wires because some of them are for shielding, and others are for data, and that would mess up the shielding and then you'll have big problems unless you bu new cables, but if you want to round them, fold them up, and tie-wrap them arlong the cable.
What I prefer doing w/ flat cables is running them under the mobo to the deivce I want to connect them to. That is basically what I did w/ my floppy cable if you noticed. As for stuff like sudio cable for the cd rom / usb cables , just run them around pci slots and capacitors like I did. The more room you clear out for air flow the better ;). Also don't do too much of that tie wrap crap. I did it once, and when ever I wanted to change something minor in my case I had to cut them. I only used 4. One for bunch that 36" round cable to my dvd/cdrw drives, one to bunch somne psu cables together, on for the round cable to my hdds (so it won't touch my vcard, it made a really annoying humming noise when it did), and one to secure the mobo power cable to the case, so t doesn't go everywhere.

Hope this is good enough, you have a pretty cool system there. I wish your cabling days the best :).

Round cables are good for air flow when used wisely. They are good for me, since I like to space my hdds out a bit and have the fan blow air over them. Flat cable would just block air from effieciently blowing onto other components. Also, you guys have an advantage over us antec users. The lian li cases are deeper, there is more roon for the mobo, the hdd bays are right by the hdd ports, and there is that thing covering the top part where the psu is (covering all the typical chaos of fan wires. It also helps that the hdds are setup vertically so that there is not twisting or turning to get the hdds connected. Just my 2 cents. But excelent jobs to the both of you none the less.

I would have gotten rounded cables, but it was faster and cheaper to just twist them around a couple of times, and they dont block airflow as much and its safer than rounding them yourself

Well, the psu is a 433 watt Enermax (with incredible rails: 33 amps to the 12volt, 44 to the 5volt). Well, the AT7-max2 isn't even out yet, if it is a good performer, I will definetly go for it. Has everything integrated too. But I may get an asus kt400 mobo though. Also looking at a pair of maxtors to raid (I would get Seagates, but I heard they don't do to well in raid, they don't perform the best). Also, looking at a dual monitor vcard. Been using some of the dual screen dells at the library on campus, and I just gotta have it :D !
