Ok. Have any of you modders used The Nibber Cutting Tool (http://store.yahoo.com/directron/nibbletool.html)?

It looks like the right tool for my job. Making a cut for a a window kit (http://store.yahoo.com/directron/window.html)

So, has anyone used this little thing? I need it for cuttin about 1/8" steel (or at least I think it's that thick). So, is it worth getting? Since I don't have a Dremel, and don't really feel like buying one.

Something similar was reviewed in the CGW edition that did a walkthrough of case modding... the general feeling? It's a crock of sh1t... it bends the metal in the worst ways and barely cuts nice.

It may not have been the same thing, but I'm just guessing. Someone with the exact tool might have some positive experience from it, however.

must agree total crap i have cut a window with a dremel and a jigsaw and tried a nibler......
after about two cuts with the nibler i pitched it and got my jigsaw out
the nibler would be alright for small holes for a fan but i would still use a dremel or jigsaw much easier

its a good idea, and has potential, but so far it has been poorly executed

It will probably work, but you can expect a lot of cursing and pain in your hand, considering all of that clamping, then when youre done cutting it out with the tool, you'll have to file out the areas you cut so that theyre smooth.

I used the nibbler to cut out the stamped fan grill in the lower bottom front of a case. Only reason I used it was the case was fully loaded with a system and I didn't feel like emptying it so I could use a jigsaw.

It worked, but it was a pain. It leaves behind little bits of metal that it cuts off so you need to be careful.

I can't imagine cutting out a hole for a window with that thing. It would take you two years from next Thursday.

If you want to cut a hole for a window mod, just bite the bullet and buy a cheap jigsaw at Walmart and some good metal cutting blades. I can cut out a window hole in two minutes and that's with stopping half-way through and changing blades.

yeah I would only use the nibbler for Al to start and only for small things like taking off fan grills or playing connect the dots (if you know what I mean).

YOu are honestly better off stringing up a hack saw.
