My new HUB

OK so I got like 3 PC's all sharing the same RoadRunner connection here at my place and no way am I paying $20 a month more for 2 extra IP's right.. They all got XP Pro on them and I just do the ol easy 1,2,3, internet connection sharing thing but the problem is one of those PC's gotta be left on 24/7 for the rest to get the net right..
Plus say my buddies in a game of UT and I decide to reboot, well he getz F*cked! :D
So instead of buying a smart router to dole out bandwidth I just grabbed my old ASUS bored (the one that was in my PC b4 I upgraded to what's in my sig) and a **** azz didn't even think it was gonna take an OS 1.2 GB H.D., an old P.S. and some tape and I got rid of where I use to keep my scanner (never scanned anything anywayZ) and poof made a router kinda sorta! :D It works great and now we can all be online even when I take my PC out of the house or reboot or what not.
It boots up (In like 5 min!!!) with no keyboard, no mouse, and no monitor (so I don't know why I still got the V.card on the mobo) and who needs a case fan when your too damn poor to afford a case! :D

I managed to squeeeze XP Pro on that little 1.2 GB drive Pinksta!
It's the easist I've found to set up home networking but no wonder it takes 5 min to boot!:D
It works like a regular computer Mrfreddio55. Just like if I took any machine in my house, gave it a second network card and the first crack at the cable modem and told it to be the center of my home network and share the internet connection with the other macinhes. ;)
It's got all the needed parts to boot up XP, 2 network cards to run I.C.S. and nothing you don't need to do just that and only that! No CD rom, to A drive, no monitor, keyboard, or mouse.
It's been up for 2 days now and no problems :)

I normally use Linux (slackware) to create my gateways for the internet. I trust them more then ICS. I can configure a linux router in more details then a windows router. Also you can use a floppy to boot a stripped down version of linux.

Thow a linux distro on there and it would fly. Several are around made for the purpose you have XP doing, plus they are a firewall. Another thing is you don't have to purchase another XP license.

Same here, except my Slack gateway also doubles as my web, ftp, database, and email server (hrm, I guess that would be quintuples then). It's only a P233, too and it's pretty darn fast.
