widescreen laptop

what are the benefits, if any, of having a laptop with a wider screen than normal? For example, 1280x854. Specifically the vpr matrix 185a5

well the screen is 15.2 diagonally which means it isnt the same width as a 15.2 inch regular screen. I measured my 200A5 against my friends gateway 600xl with his i think 15.7 inch screen and mine was slightly longer than his but of course it wasnt at large vertically. Its really nice for watching movies and it even looks good while playing games ( i.e. unreal 2k3, jedi outcast and simcity).
