My 45gig 75GXP died 2 months ago. Luckily I have a second HDD and was able to back it up to that one. Is it still under warrenty? I RMAed mine and got back a new 60gig 180gxp.:D serotone9 06-16-2003, 03:31 PM OUCH! that's gotta hurt. :( Colossus 06-16-2003, 03:35 PM I dont know what I would do if I lost my 130GB+ of MP3... It would take to long to rip all my CD's again :( So I backup all my DATA to a DLT drive, Backup Server and a External USB 2.0 Drive :) Its always good to have more then 1 backup media :) Isezumi 06-16-2003, 03:40 PM stick it in the freezer for a while and hook it back up, see if maybe you can steal SOME of those MP3s back. ROFL, Nice choice of words :) *beavis imitation* he he he he he he said steal! OutKlast 06-16-2003, 04:06 PM Both my 60gxp's are goin' strong. Gave me a little scare once, but they just needed a little better cooling. Been about 2 years now with em'. I need to get a firewire 250gb, I'll probably wait till prices drop to say $100 for drive alone. I got roughly 160gb or so of music and some other random things I keep currently on 2 120GB maxtors. Better safe then sorry though. Plus (and my mom thinks this is hilarious) if the house ever catches fire and you can only take one thing, you'd be damn sure it'd be that external drive. Yea I wish this worked for me. My first deathstar was not cooled by anything, and I figured the reason it died was because of heat. So with the RMA I got I placed an 80mm Sunon 50CFM piece blowing right on her. That didn't work either, and it died as well. I liked the drive before it died, it definitely was fast. I will stick with my Maxtor and maybe try a Seagate or a WD next time around. Always nice to try different stuff. :) Colossus 06-16-2003, 07:41 PM I would try Maxtor if they go back to a 3year warranty. Otherwise they are not worth my time :) PointlesS 06-16-2003, 07:57 PM my 40gb deathstar is going very well for over 2 years at the moment...but I'm getting a 60gb drive soon and backing up my important files along with all the patches for games since it'd take forever to download the 13 gigs that are in my downloaded stuff folder with 56k... gateways_rule 06-17-2003, 11:17 PM My 60GXP 60GB IBM Deathstar is still running strong! It's almost a year old. My previous 60GXP 60GB IBM Deathstar only lasted for 3 1/2 months. :( AMD maniac 06-18-2003, 04:37 PM My IBM 75GXP is still working despite it has been 3 years. But I do have to admit that it is cooled very well since I have a 120 Enermax right in front of it. :) BTW, how hot are all of your harddrives? Mine is about 25-28C most of the time. I don't think there is 60GB worth of good music out. LOL :) OutKlast 06-19-2003, 10:52 AM Originally posted by BremenCulhaven Man you must backup everything even junk songs. I don't think there is 60GB worth of good music out. LOL :) Why so much hate, I got around 160gb, but 30 is country and I hate country so that doesn't get backed up. But classic rock is rockin, there's lots of it too back to 70's or so. Tons of techno out there too which is nice ambient type music, and rap. I love all kinds of music, except country. I like Classical too. Colossus 06-19-2003, 03:39 PM Originally posted by BremenCulhaven Man you must backup everything even junk songs. I don't think there is 60GB worth of good music out. LOL :) Actually I have about 60GB in pure data that I cannot lose... Business records and databases... I don't understand your first line: "I got around 160gb, but 30 is country and I hate country so that doesn't get backed up." So do your or don't you have 30GB of country music backed up?
