Man he didnt want to touch my collection with a 10-foot pole :) XP1800 06-16-2003, 05:44 PM HAHAHA, the same thing happened when a Comcast tech guy came to my house. When he saw my rig and goodies downstairs he was like, Ohh, umm...is that the one I have to work on? It's really nice.. Then I showed him the way to my mom's rig, haha:) Colossus, I'm sure my tech guy would have died if he would have saw your setup! pwain 06-17-2003, 12:47 AM Most people see the computer I have or the ones I have done for friends and just ask why the hell I would waste my time. Most people just call it lame because it takes twice the effort to understand it. :p To each his own though ;) AGERSTONE 06-17-2003, 05:01 PM Yeah, thats what my friends are saying about the one i'm saving up to build now, to hell with them! :) schultz 06-17-2003, 08:26 PM that's pretty funny. never had that experience...but hopefully in the future sometime. actually...i'm really hoping to impress the guys in my dorm this coming year. shouldn't be too hard. (none of them are really oc'ers or modders) ;) :D nolekid86 06-18-2003, 12:35 AM I dont get it. Why dont they like to work with ur comp? cuz its so awesome? lostlilchild6 06-20-2003, 10:46 PM lol.... the same thing happened to me when the Adelphia guy came down to hook up my cable :D. He was like... "ok, Mind if i take a look at your pc's specs in windows? Just to see if it meets the minimum requirements." I was like... "uhhh.. sure". And as soon as he walked in the room... he was like.. "Ok.. wow.. takes care of that" OS-Wiz 06-20-2003, 11:10 PM I had a similar experience recently. I put in a TV Wonder PCI card and installed a splitter feed to it from my cable modem feed. So, in order to be perfectly legal with my cable modem provider, I called them and asked if that would be OK, acting like I hadn't actually done it yet. They were very concerned and insisted that a techie had to come out to do the installation, for free, just to make sure everything was alright. Well, I wasn't about to pull out the splitter, etc. so I just left it in line. The techie walked in, saw my systems, and the one with an HBO movie showing and said, "Yup, that looks about right." He did check check the levels for me; a Radio Shack, $1.98 splitter had nearly no insertion loss, LOL. Isn't it amazing how good quality a lot of radio shack's stuff is? I'm always amazed how good their audio and video cables compare to the much more expensive "mid grade" stuff being marketed by Monster, etc. Its definitely not as good as the high end stuff (transparent, etc), but its still a great deal for how much they cahrge! Casper1612 06-23-2003, 07:17 AM I had a guy come over today to install braodband cable and as soon as he saw the main PC he said: "Why is it glowing blue?" I thought that was pretty funny. He took one good look at the setup and said something like "You don't need me to explain this to you..do you" Cheers, doctor15 06-28-2003, 01:04 AM Originally posted by OS-Wiz They were very concerned and insisted that a techie had to come out to do the installation, for free, just to make sure everything was alright. Charter did this for you? I've never heard of them doing anything for free. Is there another cable company in STL? Also how did you get HBO on your computer? SharkyExtreme.com
