I am considering buying a laptop sometime in the next 6 months and chose to look for ideas. I plan a laptop for multimedia functions like watch dvds and play audio very well. I also have a wireless g access point and would like to compute through that. Im going for super lightweight and super long batery life. I also like alluminum or metal cases. I would like it to be as thin and small too.

So this is what zI have come up with;

1. Ibm thinkpad x series w/ centrino technology( pentium M and biult in wireless and low power lcd), I think i have the option to get a fire gl mobility card but i didnt see a 9600 at all.

2. a 15 inch powerbook g4 with or without the combo drive because burning dvds isnt an issue. I did happen to be able to select a radeon 9600 mobility card.

The prices are around the same if i get the 1ghz g4 instead of the 1.25, I see that the powerbook has alot more expansion ports an i/o stuff than the thinkpad.if i wait a bit i could even get that spiffy new panther OS. What are your opinioons/ suggestions. should i go with one of these are something else? and if so which one?

Most reports have new PB owners geting Panther with a new purchase. It's not preinstalled, but you'll get the update CDs with the PBG4. Just got a PBG4 for my girlfriend, it came that way.
