Well I bit the bullet, passed on the HP zt3000 and purchased an Inspiron 8600, here are the specs:

Pentium M 1.4GHZ
WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
512MB DDR (FREE UPGRADE!)
32MB ATI Radeon 9000
40GB
4X DVD+RW/+R (FREE UPGRADE!)
etc...

Once I get it, i'll make sure everything works and then i'll do a clean install of WinXP Prof. Total price was $1500, no rebate hassle aswell which I liked. The free upgrades are what pushed me on this purchase. Maybe once I get it i'll post some pics and mini-review on here.

Thanks for the tip!

Any other tips, notes I should take care of? I know dell lists up to 4.5 hours of battery life, but what's your average time on a full battery?

4.5 doing absolutely nothing heh

average is about 3.5-3 word proc, gaming 2.5, with folding on 1.5 =)

the only other thing is its a BIG, and HEAVY, so I reccomend a backpack, I got a shoulder bag, and im thinking of sewing backpack straps onto it.

Um, you DO know by installing another OS you'll be voiding warranty right?

Or correct me if I am wrong.

I got a backpack for my 8500, works good and is easy on the back.

Actually i'm not sure on that one, might have to look it up. If I am able to clean up the Windows XP Home that comes with it, then i'll probably keep it that way until the warrenty is gone (1yr warr).

I ordered the $59 carry bag that was an option so it should work out. I'm not worried about the weight, I can handle it :)
