I have posted my preview of the Gateway M505XL (http://talknotebooks.com/showthread.php?t=10274) in the "Notebook Reviews and Benchmarks" section of the Talk Notebooks website.
OT: I thought it was funny that the forum software did not let me enter the name of a large Japanese manufacturer called Mat****a (Panasonic) without inserting ****.

How much is the M5O5XL? The M505 is only $1600, I am gona get one once I have the cash, unless something better is out there.

The M505XL starts at $1899. It has a 1.5GHz CPU, 60GB hard drive, and DVD-RW drive (can read and burn both CDs and DVDs).
The M505X starts at $1599. It has a 1.4GHz CPU, 40GB hard drive, and CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive (can read CDs and DVDs and can burn CDs).
Otherwise, the M505X and the M505XL are the same.
As it happens, the M505 model on display at my local Gateway Country store was an M505XL.

The coolest thing was that the XL essentially has Apple's SuperDrive in it. I really like that.
