Skeelo 11-18-2003, 03:33 AM Insanity...bout time they added some vehicles, especially flying ones. aztec61 11-18-2003, 08:29 AM I think it's gonna be tons o' fun...I can't wait! rhettro 11-18-2003, 12:41 PM I think UT2k4 will be great. I'm looking forward to the collector edition with the map training DVD included. Schmunkel98 11-18-2003, 01:02 PM Sounds like they are trying to make it more like Tribes. I'll wait for Tribes Vengence. Alientank 11-18-2003, 02:34 PM It sounds like ut2k3 with vehicles and a small graphics upgrade and expect people to buy it. rhettro 11-18-2003, 03:17 PM Originally posted by Alientank It sounds like ut2k3 with vehicles and a small graphics upgrade and expect people to buy it. Actually, that's exactly what it is. If you own UT2k3, you get a $10 discount. So it sort of like an expansion pack for UT2k3. I don't know if it will be as fun as the original UT, but for the price I don't think it will be a bad purchase. Edit: Make that vehicles, small graphics upgrade, and dedicated voice over internet. The collector edition will come with an instructional DVD that shows you how to make a mod. Even if the game blows, there should be some serious mod potential coming out it. PointlesS 11-18-2003, 03:36 PM the game has all ut2k3 content in it...plus all ut2k3 mods are already compatible with 2k4 so mod makers won't have to start all over again...the vehicle video that was released a few days ago looks amazing...I'm really looking forward to it... BL1NK 11-18-2003, 06:16 PM When is the release date? I cant find it anywhere @ unreal.com :( Im looking forward to this one PointlesS 11-18-2003, 06:56 PM it's been pushed back to q1 2004...my guess is around march... JustW 11-18-2003, 08:05 PM If it's just UT2k3 with vehicles then I won't be wasting my money. Unless of course some good MOD teams get into it (which never really happened with UT2k3, but theres hope). UT2k3 sucked majorly, and I don't think vehicles alone could salvage such weak gameplay. aztec61 11-19-2003, 08:36 AM BLINK - I've heard Feb. release date, but I don't remember now where that was. rhettro- I have UT'03, so how do I get the $10. discount? Unless of course some good MOD teams get into it (which never really happened with UT2k3, but theres hope). Maybe you're not aware of it, but go to http://www.unrealtournament2003.com/downloads.php and check out the "Epic Bonus Pack". It's about a dozen new maps, new voices, etc., and it's not bad for free. They work great, I haven't had any crashes or bug issues. Be warned: it's a huge DL, so I wouldn't even attempt it on dial-up. rhettro 11-19-2003, 01:10 PM Hi Aztec, UT2K4 with come with a mail in rebate for UT2K3 owners. Most likely you'll send it in with the front page your UT2K3 manual and get $10 back by mail. This seems like a sweet deal for me, because I picked UT2K3 up for $20 a couple of months ago. UT2K4 will include Assault mode like the original UT. Yippie! PointlesS 11-19-2003, 01:25 PM I believe all it needs is the upc from the box... 20NemesiS01 11-19-2003, 01:30 PM Since I never really played UT2K3, UT2K4 looks awsome to me. I just watched the IGN video review and it looks pretty sweat. Then again I'm a huge fan of Tribes and Tribes 2, and UT2K4 is looking alot like it. It's similar to Tribes 2, but much better. schultz 11-20-2003, 03:56 AM i have an unreal 2k4 trailer on my computer and it looks like it's going to be a keeper. it will be a definite thing to look into. i loved the original, and ut2k3 was tons o' fun as well, so this should just be another step in the fun book for me! :) aztec61 11-20-2003, 07:58 AM rhettro - Thanks for the info. So it'll be a rebate then. I too paid only $19.95 for UT03, so getting $10. off '04 is even better. wOOt! I'm looking forward to playing it in Assault mode as well, that was prolly my fave. :D ace727861986 11-30-2003, 12:29 AM i dont understand why they dont do it differntly because 90% of the people wont send the rebates in. I guess its a + for them. Just kinda annoying. Trunks 11-30-2003, 03:00 PM I'm sure they know people won't send the rebates in and that's why they're doing it the way they are. Harbinger 11-30-2003, 04:42 PM OK, the comparison between Tribes and UT are a little off imo. Tribes is a team above everything else, if you don't work as a team nothing works, it's best played with veterans with voice communication and when everyone knows what they are doing, it is definitely not newbie friendly. As a result, it's not all that popular outside of hardcore players and clanners. UT variants on the other hand, have a much looser sense of teamwork. There are no static defenses to install or repair, no vehicle stations to repair, generators to defend, different armor classes, etc. UT has a lot less depth, but that is a good thing in this case as you can easily jump right in and start fragging away. CTF is pretty simple, run at the flag, get flag or guard the guy with the flag or defend your own flag. You don't have to worry about being the right class for any of the jobs, it's much simpler and easier. That's why I see UT and Tribes as still being very, very different games, even after UT adds vehicles. Stryker5 12-04-2003, 10:57 PM Originally posted by Schmunkel98 Sounds like they are trying to make it more like Tribes. I'll wait for Tribes Vengence. Exactly. They are trying to rip it off. Tribes: Vengeance will put it in it's place though. Schmunkel98 12-05-2003, 01:27 AM Originally posted by Harbinger OK, the comparison between Tribes and UT are a little off imo. I could play Tribes for days on end without getting bored, but UT only took me 5 minutes before I didn't want to play anymore. SharkyExtreme.com
