I should be getting a laptop around April next year, and I want it to be as top of the line as possible for gaming and video editing. Currently, I'm assuming the Radeon 9600 128mb Mobility is the best video card for laptops available, right? I haven't been able to find any benchmarks for this card, so I'm not sure exactly how it holds up to desktop video card performance. Is this card almost exactly the same as its 9600 desktop card sister? Or is it slower because it is a mobile version of it? If i upgrade now, will I still get a significant boost in performance from my current system with a GeForce 3 Ti500?
Thanks.

AnandTech's view of things (http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.html?i=1866)

Yup, it's the best.
It's performance should be almost equal the desktop counterpart.
However, other components of the notebook slows it down.

Best as of now, and most likely for a while.

Paired with a 1.4-1.7 ghz Pentuim M and its equal to a 3ghz P4 with 9600 desktop.

oh and get some nice DDR 2700 ram.

You realize that by next April the new A64-M's will be out and possibly a Mobile 9800 or 9700 card right? You can't say you want a top of the line laptop next April and put todays parts in it or else it won't be top of the line when you get.

Right, I know. I was just saying, hypothetically, if I build it today, will this card be the best I can buy?
Do you really think a mobile 9700 or 9800 will be out by April? When did the mobile 9600 Pro come out anyways?
