I am looking into getting a laptop pretty soon (after I save up a little cash). I mainly just want to program on it (java, c++, etc.), use office, and access the internet (through my wireless router). I won't play a whole lot of games on it, probably just old ones like age of empires. I tend to lean towards dell and not compaq or hp (like from best buy). Is there one you would recommend? I would like to keep it not too much over $1000. I might be able to go a little higher, but it depends if it is worth it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've used Dell support online, very helpfull!! Manuals, drivers even pictures how to open the case.
I'm not a programmer, how cpu/memory intensive are c++, java, compilers (sp?)??
Last I checked, there are several Celerons for that price, I never liked celerons, but it fits the budget.

compaq x1000 is a great laptop, and if you get to best buy quick you should still be able to find them for decent prices, with rebates of course, but IMO they are worth much more then you pay for them:D
