The TM2502LM looks the best for gaming but it also has the smallest screen size of them all (15") :|

Also what is the difference between XGA (TM250), SXGA (AS1711SCi), and WXGA (AS2012WLCi)?

Do you think I should go for the best monitor and maybe upgrade the video card sometime? -- This is of course primarily for office applications.. maybe 10% gaming at home.

Battery consumption isn't really a factor since it will be plugged into the wall the majority of the time.

The computer tech will only recommend the Acer brand to the boss so I have to pick from these 3 models ($2500-3000 CAN budget).

If you want to do any gaming, don't get the AS2012WLCi. It only has the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 chipset. The AS2012WLMi, on the other hand, has a Radeon 9700.

As for the AS1711, if you're willing to lug that thing around, go ahead, but keep in mind that it's a good 15 lbs! Still ridiculously powerful, though.

Personally, I've been considering the AS2012WLMi for myself. Don't know a whole lot about the other two, to be honest, but I've heard good things about the 2012.

Ok I have narrowed it down to 2...

The http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/images/inner_main_tm2500.gif Travelmate 2500 (http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/tm2500.htm)

or the

http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/images/inner_main_as2010.gif Aspire 2010 (http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/as2010.htm)

The Travelmate 2500 has a 3.0 ghz p4 cpu and mobile radeon 9000.

The Aspire 2010 has a 1.5 ghz centrino cpu with mobile radeon 9700.

So the 2500 has the advantage of cpu speed and the 2010 has the advantage of video card performance.

Which one should I get?

Will I notice a difference in cpu speeds? Will the centrino be a bottleneck to the high-performance video card?

Quick help would be greatly apreciated as I have to tell the comp. tech what I want tomorrow morning.

TIA,

Centrino all the way. A Pentium M 1.5GHZ can take on a P4 2.2-2.4GHZ in most cases, its very fast in gamming, and that 9700 Will have higher clock speeds and better tweaks to the core over the 9600Pro. Another Big plus is the built in HQ wireless card by Intel. Its A/B/G one. Plus the centrino will smoke the P4 in battery life. It will run cooler, and be quiter. Its no contest.
