Umm we need more details. Intel has 5 chips ussed in their laptops. Desktop P4's, Moblie P4, Pentium M, Celeron M, and celerons. If you are looking for a laptop. Speed and battery go centrino, gaming or desktop replacement, 1200$ nets you an Athlon 64and 9600 from Emachines. My G/F just got one and damn its fast

Well, I'm talking about the Intel Desktop Processor P4 (on laptop). You tried both and Athlon is faster than a Desktop P4 ?

I dont think you should worry so much about the processor, instead you should find a laptop that you like that you can work easily and well with. AMD or Intel its gonna be fast. If battery power is an issue then a centrino laptop is a must. but besides that its all good(avoid celerons)

Yes when they use Desktop parts, it will run hotter, be louder, and have less battery. If you are looking for power and portibilty, nothing can beat the Pentium M laptops with a 9600Pro Turbo:D

Pentium M (centrino) is the only kind of cpu i would pick for a laptop

those 3ghz pentium 4s and athlon 3000s are great but I want more than 2 hours battery life on a "portable system"
