Ok was looking at a sony clie, but thought that I should also look at the windows side of the pda's. I've used palm before (over 4 years ago), but because it's been awhile and as such so much has changed, I'd like feedback as to what these new generation of pda's can actually do. Some of the basic things I'm looking for it to do is: datebook, expense tracking, spreadsheets, and notepads as a start. Like I said, I'm sure there are more things I can use them for but am clueless right now as to what those are. So if anyone can tell me more benefits/conveniences current pda's provide, I'd greatly appreciate it. If there are no real benefits (other then wi-fi and bluetooth- although wi-fi would be cool, but I'd rather surf the web on my laptop) then I might as well save my money and buy a used/refurb'd older model. Thanks.

Well, a couple of things to note:
1) Sony PDAs are dead. They killed the Clie line. Buying one now is silly. The Palm OS is pretty close to death too.
2) If you run Windows and plan to run Windows for a long time, buy a Pocket PC, hands down. If you run linux or a mac, buy a Palm.

I would always buy a PPC myself because they are far more powerful and have superior aftermarket software (IMO). I've had 2 Palm's and 2 PPC's and while I never seem to use them much and keep selling them, I do know that I prefer PPCs since I have more options with them.
