I'm trying to convert some songs from a CD to MP3 format so I can put them on an MP3 player. I have a Samsung MP3 player that came with some software to accomplish this task but it keeps freezing on me every time I attempt to do it. Is there an easier way? I tried with Real Player but it says that it's a 'Premium' task and I have to register Real player and pay something to do it.

Any suggestions?

Use a different program to rip the audio from CD. CDex (http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/) and Exact Audio Copy (http://www.exactaudiocopy.org/) are two popular free choices, and are likely better than whatever software came bundled with your MP3 player. (And anything's better than RealPlayer!)

As for converting WMA to MP3... Don't bother unless you absolutely have to. Both are lossy compression formats, meaning you'll lose sound quality when you convert from one to the other. It's best to create your WMA or MP3 files from a clean, uncompressed source -- like the original CD itself.
