Here's the deal, I want to move my computer into another room but I would like to have the option to play tunes in either the computer room or my living room without having to load all my original cd's into a player all the time.
My current system is in my sig. Is there some sort of wireless broadcaster thingy that people can recommend to feed an amp/reciever at a distance of say 30 feet? I live in an apartment and dont want to have to string up a ton of wire although I will if I have to.
Sound card is an audigy but I am open to upgrading if required.
I still would like to use my klipsche 4.1's as they sound just fine in a small room.
cheers.
There are networked set-top devices that will play MP3s. I was looking into these seriously a couple months ago. There were several options out there, but not of them really 5-start solutions. In the end, I've got my H10 with a headphone to RCA adapter, playing it through the aux input of my receiver.
If you've got a couple hundred dollars to spend on this, have a look at those boxes (I can dig up the reviews if you want). They will give you access to the full collection and a remote interface so you don't need to be in front of the computer to kick off playlists. But with that distance, I'd have to recommend running some wire and saving the effort and cash.

thanks. I suppose I could get some cable and simply run the speakers out into the living room.
Eventually I will get a proper stereo, but dont have the cash atm....

i've been looking into a media extender lately. the best one for the money it seems is the d-link dsm320. i looked at some online reviews and everyone seems to agree it's good forwhat it does at $120 after MIR. it seems to have a few bugs that need to be worked out, but you can upgrade the firmware, and it's wireless and you can stream video/pictures/music. a lot of people say that using it wirelessly isnt as good as having it wired to your router which is understandable since wireless imo is pretty sub par in most cases to a wired connection. i'm probably going to order it monday. so i'll get back to you later in the week to let you know how it works out...
