Does anyone know of a program that would not only backup the ROM/Settings on the PDA, but the Storage Card (in this case, SD card) also.

Reason I am asking is because I have had 3 instances of my ipaq rx3115 completely wipe the FAT of the SD card ... no idea how that happened, but I hear it was a widespread problem. So I am looking for something that could back the card up also.

Another thing I am looking for is a program (for the PDA) to "unlock" the SD card so that I could use it in card reader.

This program seems to be popular amongst PDA people for backup:

Have a look and see if it's any good for you.

Not sure what your latter question means? Does the Ipaq prevent the SD card being access in a PC? The cards in my PDA work fine in my card reader, although I may have misunderstood your question.

well, the thing is that the PDA reads the card and writes to it, but if I simply take it out, windows complains about the card being write protected.

I know SD cards have a locking feature built in to them (I could be wrong)

As for the backup software, incremental active sync and MobSync works out nicely.

Question about active sync ... besides the registry and other settings, what else does it back up? does it back up windows and program files directories, and programs installed in the pda's memory?

thing is, I want to use MobSync to backup my SD card (in event of failure, so I can format, hard reset and put everything back), if ActiveSync backups everything that is not external storage (everything besides the SD card) then that rocks. :)

Does it matter that the card is write-protected if you're just trying to back it up? You only need read access to back up a card.

well, the thing is that when my card gets corrupted again, I'd like to use my card reader to format it.

I am not using the card reader for back up because I can simply use MobSync to automatically backup the card and ActiveSync to backup the setting/registry. and do it all when the pda is connected to my system.

I am assuming nobody has a way of deleting a corrupted folder on an SD card short of formatting the entire card?
