They are milking it. I had to convince myself for special forces and I maybe put 1 total hour into it. Those punks should have released everything as one game. If they put the same amount of time making a $10 expansion pack into fixing bugs, I would think about it. Plus what does Europe have thats better than the US? :D noworries 02-20-2006, 02:13 PM I bought SF. I won't buy anything else until they fix the bugs. logan-x 02-20-2006, 05:02 PM well im trying to figout where they get off putting out a booster so soon after sf. how much is it going to be this time i wounder? i think its going to be another road to rome. Mr Cherry 02-20-2006, 05:13 PM I don't plan on buying it, of course that might change if my other friends get it. But nothing in the pack looks really that interesting. At least with SF they focused on infantry combat more than with vanilla BF2 plus the added unlocks you get, so I could justify getting it. Patch 1.2 was a step in the right direction but there are still lots of bugs with the game *cough* server browser *cough*. Which I'd like to see fixed before I commit more money to the franchise. noworries 02-20-2006, 07:12 PM It's $10. My guess is it becomes free after a while because few people will buy it. It's like SF. It was fun for a while, but most people are playing vanilla bf2 now. Now that AA is so brutal it takes a lot of fun out of flying. I like to fly. I hated the way I would get a missile lock, fire, and then the missile would veer away... then it would hit some unseen buddy. There's a reason it's called missile LOCK. I wish they would release a pirate mod for BF2. I know they are making one at bfpirates, but I don't think it's released. Learux 02-20-2006, 07:41 PM I'll buy it. I dont expect free content 8 month after game release. Besides the game is really not all that buggy as people make it sound. Learux PointlesS 02-20-2006, 07:48 PM well it's delayed until they cleanup their current mess of a patch noworries 02-20-2006, 08:20 PM By buying it you set a precedent that the pay-as-you-go deal works. They didn't sell you BF2 at Walmart for $90. They sold it to you for $50. Then you bought SF for $30. Now the game cost $80. Then the euro patch and you're at $90. What happens when BF3 is released? What will it cost? $160 if you want all the weapons and vehicles? Buy it or not, just be aware of the message you are sending to EA and game developers everywhere. logan-x 02-20-2006, 08:34 PM By buying it you set a precedent that the pay-as-you-go deal works. Learux 02-20-2006, 10:22 PM I disagree, you cannot expect to receive free content month after a game is released. SF was a nice expansion pack and imo worth $30. I really enjoy playing the game and wil continue to do so. Learux 20NemesiS01 02-20-2006, 11:13 PM Agreed, you can't expect new content for free. You can spend way more on a MMO and it's monthly fees than BF2. And BF2 is more fun :) Also, what's Vanilla BF2? Learux 02-20-2006, 11:44 PM Vanilla BF2 is the orginal, there is vanilla and special forces. Learux proxemo666 02-21-2006, 01:11 AM Agreed, you can't expect new content for free. You can spend way more on a MMO and it's monthly fees than BF2. And BF2 is more fun :) Also, what's Vanilla BF2? I hate when people (no offense to you) compare MMO's and free games. There is a reason why you have to pay monthly fees. Its comparing apples and oranges. BF2 and SF were released so close together, that the only conclusion is that all of this was considered one game at one point. Then the big wigs at EA decided they could make more money by splitting it. Also, if you do some internet searching of some old BF2 videos, there was ALOT taken out from the testing phase of BF2 than the release version of BF2. logan-x 02-21-2006, 04:08 AM well i dont fell we should pay for every mod that comes down the pipe, but our days of playing bf games free on line are coming to a end soon i feel. there is a company in fla who is testing a eng for the army that they can make whole citys and run up to 10,000 people in a compleat war time theater. they want it for training , but i bet we see is soon also. maybe in bf4, who knows. if ea is going to charge for every thing , then we will half to pay to play if we like it or not. on another note i dont see all the bugs on my system, but i do on my freinds comps. noworries 02-21-2006, 10:30 AM I won't pay a monthly charge to play a game. Never have... never will. I didn't buy BF1942. I did buy BF:V. They did add content for free as the game progressed. Then they broke the net code so I couldn't play online anymore (way too laggy). Yet I didn't get my money back! Now with BF2 they did the same thing, but they charged for it. Maybe you'll pay $99 for BF3. And maybe you'll pay per month to play BF3. Maybe you'll buy a better gun for your character in the game for $20. Me?? I'll either find a way to do the same stuff for free, find another game, or spend more time on other things. I don't like getting nickled and dimed. 20NemesiS01 02-21-2006, 02:09 PM I personally have not bought the expansion, nor do I intend to. Plain ol' vanilla BF2 is plenty fun as it is and I see no reason to spend another $40 on an alreday great game IMO. As it is there's plenty of servers and the only reason I would get the expansion would be to get a couple new guns. And the F2000 isn't worth $30 to me. Only reason I compared it to an MMO is to give a new perspective to the booster packs. As for the special forces expansion I've never played it and I believe you when you say it was probably split off the original game and sold separately to make more money. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened in the game industry. Learux 02-21-2006, 06:26 PM yeah it sucks EA is in it to make money. It should all be goodwill so we can ply free games on our $1500 computers. Liek I said i happily pay for a game and its expansions if I feel like I get some value for my money. I played bf2 for a lot of hours. Price per hour is next to nothing. Heck, one night of partying in a bar is more then the 3 bf2's together. Learux fuzzbutt 02-22-2006, 10:32 AM I wish they would release a pirate mod for BF2. I know they are making one at bfpirates, but I don't think it's released. Ohh...I can't wait to resurrect my alter ego again..buttpirate. Arrh!! :D PointlesS 02-22-2006, 11:06 AM they're not forcing poeple to buy it...if you don't want to buy it then don't but for those who love the game...they probably will... SharkyExtreme.com
