hey all, well with the help of some forum members I got the parts I needed to update my HTPC.

As it stands right now...
Athlon 1600+ CPU
Shuttle AN35N Ultra Motherboard
(2 extra USB back brackets, 6 ports total)
(using onboard Nvidia 5.1 Soundstorm)
(using onboard 10/100 NIC)
512MB PC2700
ATi All-in-Wonder 8500DV
Generic Case w/ 420w Thermaltake PSU
Maxtor 160GB HDD
NEC 3500 16x Dual Layer DVD-RW
16x DVD-ROM
ATi Remote Wonder
Cordless Logitech Keyboard w/ Microsoft basic mouse
Floppy Drive
...all hooked up to my 46" Rear Projection TV.

The HTPC would have more memory if I hadn't fried a 512mb stick, but oh well, I'll add more later I'm sure. I also plan on getting a 6800GS for my main system and move the Radeon 9700 over to this HTPC. Which should give me a nice alternative gaming machine option. All these updates leave me with a clear and simple upgrade path for when I retire my current main system and move the parts over to this one. Sometime I'll probably get a different case, one that's black to match my TV. I've also got a Promise ATA/133 card I'll throw in when I get another HDD. I'm currently dual booting WinXP MCE and Win2k.

This computer also serves as my file/media library server as well as a static torrenting machine. It's kinda loud for a HTPC so I'll have to do some fan/sound managing as well. But right now it works fine for all my current needs.

thanks to all sharkies for their help in making this update possible... *tear flick*

Computer Specs in my sig are also update with this info now.

Found a couple old pics and thought I would add them so people can see what kind of setup it is. Sometime when I have time I'll get some better photos and upload them here.
