Basic premise is that you evolve your own species and see it through to conquering not only the inhabitants of it's own planet, but also those of other planets. You get to design your species from the cell on up, fight for survival/dominance, build cities/armies, and more. This game reminds me a lot of Black and White 2, but I hope it overcomes that game's faults. Does anyone have any hard info on this game? I can't seem to find much on the gameplay beyond the generic references I just made. I'm hoping there is more to the RTS side of things than is being mentioned. Otherwise this one would be fun for about 8 hours, then I would never look at it again(like Black and White 2).

actually it's kinda a mix of a bunch of different games...in one of the spore videos will wright was talking about different aspects of the game and calling those parts the rts game...the city building game...the adventure game and so on...

I hope he can pull them all off. I just hope the RTS aspect is there in full force and not some afterthought.

The intial part of the game will be comprised of smaller minigames that will help you grow and evolve. Once that is done, the game switches to an action/adventure type game were you explore the world and look for a place to settle. From that point on it becomes an rts, where you fight other species on the planet for dominance. Once you get space flight, the game becomes a space sim where you can travel from planet to planet collecting species and/or taking over othe planets.

I'm wondering how the multiplayer will be involved with that though. Do you compete against other players on your own planet and in the universe?

I thought multiplayer was basically downloading other people's species and inserting them into your world then having the computer control them....

I could be wrong though

Yeah, multiplayer isn't mp in the standard sense - As you play you download species and items from other people on the net and it gets integrated into your game world. When you eventually get out into space you can find entire planets created by other people but you're not actually playing with them, their creatures and habits have been downloaded to your system.

This is correct, however rumor is that a vs mp version is in the works. However, I have no idea how thye will manage to pull that off.

Did anyone see the video of the game demonstration where he dropped this bug like creature onto another planet, but because it had no atmosphere, the bug just exploded? I thought that was cool.

Ditto. I was totally expecting it, but it was so sudden I still laughed. :D

I am surprised Spore didn't get more attention at E3.

It must of got some attention from IGN from all the awards they gave it :p

Spore won Best PC Simulation, Best Artistic Design, Most Innovative Design, and PC Game of the Show.

Not too shabby, I will most likely pick this one up because I'm always looking for something "different" to play that isn't just another cookie cutter FPS, RPG, or RTS.
