Looks like we all grew up!:) Wouldn't be so Dead if you took on a Modding Project and posted here. Folks come and check for new projects being done. I suppose in some regards the old modders have moved on to other forums or just grew tired of modding. My Last Modding Project was last Oct/Nov. so it will be awhile for another one. Your right use to be pretty busy in here but things change. Its not all bad.. Adisharr 02-27-2007, 12:15 PM I'd love to do something cool but my only real free time to myself is Tuesday nights and I spend that doing some gaming w/ my cousin. I can post some control panels I'm doing on the side if anyone is interested when they're done. Huzzah! mellojoe 02-27-2007, 12:35 PM I'm in the process, but it will be a long process. Not too much on the side of monster case mods, I don't think, though. I miss all the millions of projects, though. Some really talented people used to do lots of work. Endersothergame 02-28-2007, 07:12 PM I dunno I did a few simple mods to my server case. http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/240/lightscasewt3.th.jpg (http://img152.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lightscasewt3.jpg) its nothin special. That rig is Athlon XP 2500 with 512MB ram, ATi R9800P and 160Gb HDD, on a ABIT KV7-V along with the worlds worst wire managment. AstroCreep 02-28-2007, 08:07 PM I too would love 'to do something cool', but I live in an apartment (lack of room), I have no power tools, and I wouldn't know what to do with said power tools. I have soft hands. :) crystal scan02 02-28-2007, 10:55 PM since i live at home i am already out of room with my 4 computer i have :( Russell 03-02-2007, 04:11 AM Dude, seriously, just stfu. Yes. avatar thief:p crystal scan02 03-02-2007, 10:23 PM ok my dell dimension 8200 had a properity psu layout, so i modded the back of it to fit a normal psu, and took out the airdut holder and put the my own case fan on the mesh inside, and my own cpu fan does that count  rabidmoose171 03-03-2007, 02:41 PM If you share pictures. Endersothergame 03-03-2007, 02:43 PM I shared pic and no one noticed I wouldn't let it get to ya CS02. In this very thread actually AstroCreep 03-03-2007, 10:22 PM In this very thread actually Yeah, it looks good! :) Beast of a time with the paint, huh? I tried painting CDROM bezels (probably the easiest of 'paint mods') and it thoroughly p****ed me off and I gave up. I could hardly imagine a case! :p If I were to do anything with my case now, I'd try to setup a liquid cooling system and mod the top of my case to have the heatercore installed there. Endersothergame 03-03-2007, 10:28 PM I agree, way too much work for the effect, next time gloss paint plus 50 clear coats and I bet it looks just as good. crystal scan02 03-03-2007, 10:51 PM That's fine and all, but remember why you got banned the first time around... for harashing a mod :o crystal scan02 03-03-2007, 10:52 PM I agree, way too much work for the effect, next time gloss paint plus 50 clear coats and I bet it looks just as good. his case does look kind of cool though:) PointlesS 03-04-2007, 01:50 PM does ripping off my front door count as modding? crystal scan02 03-04-2007, 06:10 PM does ripping off my front door count as modding? no:o schultz 03-07-2007, 03:29 AM does ripping off my front door count as modding? If you post pictures. As for me, I'm out of college and finally working full time. And by full time I mean 50-60 hours a week (with weekend work). I also don't really have any space here. I did buy a new computer, though, so hopefully I'll actually have a chance to pull the old one apart since it's going to be down for a while anyway. Then move onto the new case (the new Lian Li's so pretty, want to be practiced up a bit! ;)). crystal scan02 03-07-2007, 07:41 PM does putting a not stock heatsink on my chip set count as modding :o pwain 03-07-2007, 07:42 PM i think case modding died out to be honest. Cripes... it's the begining of it for me... and now that I Have a career that can give me a decent budget to play with, I'm having a ball!!! Very sorry for not posting up over here in so long. DSF (Dallas Stars Foundation) was a build I just wrapped up on 2 weeks ago. It was an exclusive build log that I promised to my bros over @ Modders-Inc. Now... I'm going to finish up DST (Dallas Stars Tribute) for my friend, my son's premod (with custom paint and lighting... you know you can't leave those alone!) and my Quakecon rig for 2007 (you have registered... right?). All of this, and I am in the middle of final negotiations on a house for my family to move in to! If we get the house, modding will again be "delayed" while I pack up the house with my wife, and get it moved over to the new hacienda. New garage means I can lay out my work area *exactly* how I want it before I move anything into it. And it is going to be SO sweet! I will get me a 220v run on a dedicated breaker, and run that to a section of my garage and put a nice, used oven in there so that I can start powder coating in my garage! I'll also run a dedicated circuit breaker for my air compressor. In the words of Dr Seuss.... "Oh the places you will go!" But never... ever... give up hope! And certainly don't give up on modding! It is truly a blast! I'll have my DSF thread posted up here in a bit! LET'S GO FOLKS!!!!! ;) schultz 05-01-2007, 11:57 PM I know this was posted quite a while ago, and sorry for a bit of the grave digging, but I just had to respond. Way to go Tech-Daddy!! :) I may not have worked on a mod for a long time, but I am now successfully out of college and working. I am definitely looking forward to setting aside a part of my income for future mods. I've yet to do any modding right now because I've been getting hammered at work with the crazy deadlines some people decided to agree to. But the dream is not dead, and I will be back at it when I finally get some time and a little extra dough. (Even if they're not quite as awesome looking as Tech-Daddy's ;)) Tech-Daddy 05-02-2007, 12:15 AM You are funny bro! ;) Got my house, wrapped up on move in this last weekend. Now... all of my crap is in boxes in my beloved garage! I have more space in this garage and the previous owner left me a workbench... so that gives me a total of 3 that I can use! The circuit breaker box is going to be a bit of a nightmare, as it is an old style that is not very reliable, not able to be expanded, and is generally frowned upon by the electrician public! So... I am in the process of diagramming out my ideal circuit layout for the garage. I will likely have a master panel that comes in off the mains, and then 2 sub panels off of that breaker. One panel for the garage and one for the house. This will hopefully isolate the noise of my tools from getting into the lines in the house. Also, this will grant me the flexability of, if I need to run a new outlet somewhere, I can shut down the garage without taking the rest of the house down. That way I can add in my new breaker, fish my wall for the new box and bring the garage back on line without killing my son's XBox, my daughter's Dora, or my wifeypoo's 24! ;) So, thank you for the kind words! I am just as excited at the prospects. Congrats to you for keeping the faith and not dropping the fever to mod! I look forward to seeing your creations! I hope to make a significant dent in the boxes in the garage by this weekend, opening up one of my work benches for the beginings of bench setup. Take care all! Zy 06-10-2007, 04:21 PM I for one do miss all the custom pc we use to see in here. I like many of you have been busy with other things not leaving any time to do a new project. I was planning on do one over the winter but one of my other projects took up most of my spare time. I hope by late summer I will be putting together a new system and will post picture then. Maybe we should start up a show us your pc thread to bring this back from the dead. For now here is a pic of me winter project. Its not a pc but I guess you could say its been overclocked. :D http://home.comcast.net/~s.mccarthy1/engine1.jpg.JPG GLScooby 06-12-2007, 03:06 AM Hola Sharks. It has been a while. I was doing some lurking and trying to catch up on some of the past projects I missed. There were some awesome projects and a whole lot of talent. I built 2 other machines while I've been gone, but they were plain vanilla. I had a project in progress here, but I have scrapped it. Old modders never die, they just get upgraded. It's time to start fresh. I'm putting some ideas together and will be starting my project soon. I need to get up to speed on hardware so I don't n00b it up too badly. I've got the welder fired up, a stack of fresh dremel wheels, and some free time. It's time to get back to modding. It's good to be back. TAZTG 06-12-2007, 01:02 PM WooT the Scoob is back..:) :) Goofas 06-13-2007, 11:42 PM I for one do miss all the custom pc we use to see in here. Your the tiger in a spa with your bald uncles? DJBeanPole17 06-14-2007, 04:17 PM LOL no... I just happened to find that in a huge collection of weird/funny pictures. I almost think that it could be from the school I go to since our mascot is a jaguar... but I doubt it. Those guys are uh... ODD. Tech-Daddy 06-16-2007, 12:38 AM A bit on the scary side I would say.... blitzekriec 06-26-2007, 04:30 AM What a waste Now now... Making a good car perform better is never, ever a waste! Like that Evo Zy ;) G19 06-28-2007, 05:30 PM I installed some blue led coolermaster fans on my camo case. eRock 07-04-2007, 03:33 PM I think the real problem is that most people buy newer cases that already have all the bells and whistles you could mod on your own. I bought an Antec 900 and I can't think of anything that I could do that wouldn't make it look rediculous. It used to be you had to add a window w/ a dremmel and throw come cold cathodes in but now you can just buy em pre-made. Takes all the fun/frustration out! Tech-Daddy 07-04-2007, 04:26 PM While this is true, to a point, modding chases the spirit of customization. Every person that gets a case can find things that they wish had been done differently. And on the really active modders, it becomes a challenge to customize that high end case to make in unique and special. So, yeah, a lot of the cases out there today have really been following forums like this to come up with designs that take what we do into account. Dare I say that even the most "customed" vendor case can always be painted /polished/dremmeled/LED'ed/fan'ed/etc, no matter how sweet the case is out of the box. Modding will never die... :) TAZTG 07-05-2007, 07:34 AM Case Modders usually will not buy a pre-modded case. I rather get a plain case, select a theme for the MOD and go to town. Now the SDCM (Seriously Deranged Case Modders) will look at most anything and think WoW that would be a sweet case mod project. Its true that pre-modded cases have taken its toll on the modding community but I can remember when cases had the AT Form Factor, and Modding was considered stupid to most folks. Why ruin a perfectly good case. LOL San7a 07-28-2007, 05:54 AM They threw me in college and I lost all my S P A C E !!! ... Whadda crock! :( EDIT: HELLOOOO TAZ! sabo 08-05-2007, 09:43 AM zy that is a sweet ride nice job DJBeanPole17 08-06-2007, 10:48 AM They threw me in college and I lost all my S P A C E !!! ... But most of all..... welcome back ! :) Looking forward to see some mods, I'm a student right now and have little time for a mod. :) Thinking of making a 120mm blowhole and another blowhole for a 120mm LED fan for my window ! DJBeanPole17 08-07-2007, 09:34 AM I would get into modding but I'm a n00b with tools. SharkyExtreme.com
