As I stated below, I have a P3 500 MHz processor. I want to know if an 800 will work with my motherboard or will I have to buy a new one for an upgrade?

Stated below?
Anyway what kind of mobo do you have?
You probably can get an 800. Even the older BX's had 8 multipiers. Anyboard that's less than 18 months old should support at least an 800Mhz cpu.

some boards might not have jumper settings to get to 800MHz - you might need to flash your bios to get an 800
******WARNING*******
if you screw up flashing your bios your mobo will be useless, and unless the mobo manufacturer told you to they probably wont give you a new one under warranty...
make sure you get the EXACT model of motherboard you have, then check it again, recheck it, then check it a few more times. if you are still sure, then go to the motherboard manufacturer's site, check their site for a bios update for your exact motherboard (hint: check that a few times) then read the instruction manual (readme.txt usually) a few times, print it out if you have to...follow all the instructions...
i'm being this exact because you will lose the mobo if you mess it up, but its pretty easy....
i always would reccomend a backup of you old bios file before screwing around with it...
one last thing - only trust the file if its from the mobo manufacturer's site, or from the company that made it (i.e. Compaq or Dell) make sure doing that won't void your warranty too if you care about that
