Sound Blaster Live Value

Anyone Having trouble with cpu vcore setting having a mind of its own? Checked all jumpers on mobo and they are set to default (jumper free mode) But in the bios when vcore is set to auto the hadrware monitor is showing 1.74volts. Also when I set it to User define @1.60volts hardware monitor still shows 1.74volts???? Am I right in thinking that it should be 1.60 for the Athlon Tbird? The reason I am concerned, I think the higher voltage is causing my cpu to run to hot 45 to 50*C(and therefor just a little unstable, Locks up once in a while during games) Is 1.60 the proper voltage? And is 50*C to hot for this processer? I heard that Tbirds are supposed to run at about 35*C

BTW the system is not over clocked
Thanks

This is a known issue with this board, or at least some of it is.

First, with the default voltage (1.7V), the A7V always shows a decent amount higher. Mine appears as 1.77 or 1.79 Volts. There have been several reports that if all is fine and stable, dropping the voltage manually 0.05 volts will lower the core temperature.

On the other hand, it doesn't sound like things are totally setup correctly if you're changing the voltage to 1.60 and the readings don't change. Try to set up in jumper mode (instead of jumper-free) and see what goes. BTW at 1.6V, you probably won't be able to boot. Drop to 1.65 1st.

As for the temperature, 35ºC for a TBird is pretty darn low - either there's some monster cooling there or the thermistor is placed too far away from the core. 50ºC is warm, but there are numerous people running at ~60ºC under full load. Just stay below 60ºC if possible.

Thanks for your fast reply Rock! However, I was wrong about not being able to adjust the voltage in the bios. I must not have saved config before I exited. I just tried again and now it seems to have changed. I set it to 1.65V like you said, But it still shows 1.696 on Asus probe. It seems that Asus is out about .05 on what it shows in monitoring vs actual voltage. But i'm happy with this setting for now, it is a bit closer to the factory Tbird Volatge spec. (at least according to the hardware monitor!) Doesn't seem to be bringing the temp down much though, still at 48*C. May try another .05 drop later.
What does your temp run at?
Thanks Again
Kev

Just posted my temps in another thread, but here they are for my TBIRD 750:

at 750MHz ~ 48ºC (edit: this may be 800MHz)
at 900MHz ~ 53ºC
at 950MHz ~ 57ºC

These are "full load" temps after running Prime95 or the like for 15 minutes (you can watch the temp rise, the plateau after a few minutes). The 57ºC makes me a little uncomfortable, so I'm back at 900MHz for now.

Also, note that these are all 1.7V (jumper set), so the monitor output is, as you've noticed, a bit higher.
