I have a regular cd-rom and a cd-burner (both internal). My Soundblaster Live card only allows the attachment of one audio cable from the sound card to the cd-rom. Is there a Y adapter I can purchase so I can connect one sound card to two cd-rom drives?
If yes, what is the web address of the merchant.
Thanks

I do not believe a Y-Splitter exists ... but I do not know.
However, every SBLive! card that I have seen has a digital (2-pin) audio connection, and the standard analog (4-pin) (sometimes one of the older straight pins and the white-block style -- forgive my vague descriptions I know not what these are called exactly) .. anyway, this may be the case with your card -- most new CD Drives will accept the digital as well as the analog style .. check it out, it may be the case on your SB Live board.

There are CD-ROM cables that have 2 ends (for 2 CD-ROM's). I have seen them in PC's (HP's namely) but never for sale in a retail shop.

If you don't mind doing a bit of soldering, how about making your own?

If you have a new CD-ROM or DVD-ROM, I would connect it to your SB Live! with the digital, two-pin connector (if the drive has digital-out capability) and connect your CD-RW to your soundcard with the analog, four-pin connector.

why don't you save yourself some trouble and only put your music cd's in one drive??

Cause, the S/PDIF connector sounds sooo much better than the analog connector (Live!'s DAC is much better than the one on the CD-ROM).
