Problem updating SBlive5.1 drivers...

For some reason when I try to update the drivers, a blank dialogue box with an exclamation mark appears with "yes" or "no" buttons at the bottom. It then proceeds to the install but comes up with some error "installer failed to iniatialise" or something. I also can't seem to get an AC3 signal from the digital jack to play through my Dolby Digital Decoder. Any help would be met with vigorous thanks.

Additional Info: Hovering the mouse over the little soundcard icon in the systray shows "SB Live (E400)", a few days ago it said C400. Any ideas as to what this means

Are you sure you are updating with the correct drivers? Last I checked (3 days ago), Creative had NO updated drivers for the Live 5.1 soundcards available on their web site. Other folks on this and other forums have found the out the same thing. Perhaps you downloaded and installed the regular Live drivers by mistake (hence the change in identification you experienced).

I'm currently using the drivers that came with the sound card, so I still don't understand why it changed from C400 to E400. Are you sure that there aren't new Liveware drivers out yet? Mine are dated 8-25-200. Surely they've released updated drivers by now?

Sorry I can't help you with the changing number problem. It's beyond anything I have experienced. As far as the installation failing, with the error message you are getting, you might have a faulty CD and some file or files cannot be read from the CD. In answer to your question in your last post, there have been NO updated drivers released for the Live 5.1 soundcards.

I've tried two sets of drivers, one of a coverdisc, the other from Creative's site. My card seems to work okay anyway so I'll leave the driver issue for now. Thx for your words of wisdom.
