is there a type of WAN (wireless area network) radio/microwave thing that does not require line of sight? cause there are some trees between where the transcievers would be, and they can be removed, but I would hate to do that. the range must be 1 mile minimum.

not in current technology...they are working on broadcast wireless networking...all radio is line of sight by nature..whether it is spread signal are a narrow beam..radio waves do not follow the earth's curve....there are some satellite options coming(who knows how long it will be) but you still have to be able to "see" the satellite to get the signal.

ATM,there is only radio wireless option, wich require the transceicver to be in line of sight to operate. There are several technologies in developing, but I dont thik if other alternative will emerge soon enough.

There are wireless modems out there, but I think (not sure) you would have to find and ISP that works with them. Also, this stuff is still in its infancy, so the coverage is not as good as a cell phone. Check out www.ricochet.com (http://www.ricochet.com) for what they have to offer...
