This may be a dumb question, but I dont know what I am doing wrong.
I have 2 pcs networked via crossover cable. I can type in the computer name of each other or the IP address (both via Start->Run), but if I click the NN I can only see the PC I am currently using, not the one i want to get to. Is there something I am doing wrong? Am I trying the impossible - I have tried almost everything.
Thanks in advance...

First of all you have to make sure you have the systems set to share files and folders. Open windows help and type in Share. And if you are asking about controlling another conputer from yours...you need software something like PC-anywhere. Hope this helps

I thought I was wrong once...But I was mistaken

To clarify:
File and Print Sharing IS enabled. I just wanted to be able to open NN, double click the PC and see the shared folders. I can get the same result by start->run ip address or pc name, I was just wondering why it doesnt work.

Make sure both machines are in the same workgroup for a start. If they are, what protocols are you using?
Can you find the computer? if you goto start then find then computer then type in the name of the other machine. If you can find the machine, it is possible that the machine is not broadcasting to the network to enable this goto the network properties then double click onto file and sharing for Microsoft Networks (assuming you are using Microsofts file and print sharing) and change the LM Announce to yes if it isnt.
I hope this helps you

Don't matter that much if you enable "file & Printer Sharing" as long as you don't actually rightklick one of your drives and enable it as shared drive so there IS something to share - if you see my point ;-)
