Do you have an IR receiver you can plug into an external modem or another PC? If so, I think the baud rate through that port is limited to 9600 but could be wrong. Those IR ports always give me trouble - stopped using them all together..

the port you want to use is not really made to shuffle that kind of data around, or at a high rate of speed. It is designed basically for printing and as such would have roughly the same through put as the LPT port. It is possible but I think you would be very dissapointed at the final result.

well in the infrared control panel, it has a maximum transmision rate setting, which i have at 4Mbs. Are you saying that it cant go that fast? This is a brand new notbook. In my dialup properties in win2k(not sure about 98), it says i can establish a dialup connection thru my ir port.

No kidding..4 Mbps? Hmm.. That's quite a bit faster than I had in my older P233 Dell notebook. http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/smile.gif
