Well like the topic advocates, I am going to tell you all about a REALLY cool mp3 player I just got.
Just picked up the Iomega HipZip. Check out the specs.
http://www.iomega.com
It can be found for as cheap as 127 bucks!!! The player is complete QUALITY. Great features, really simple controls and downloading to the player is as easy as going into Windows Explorer and dragging your mp3’s (or any file for that matter) to the HipZip since Windows recognizes it as an external zip drive!!!
This thing has it’s own li-on battery which charges in 2 hours and has AWESOME playing time. I’ve listened over 8 hours on mine at high volume and it’s still going. No buying AAA or AA batteries.
It also is firmware upgradeable so it will keep up with any new media formats which may come around. I just upgraded the firmware on mine and it was really easy.
My main dissappointment was how many songs can be fit onto the 40 MB click disks. Not much if you use songs encoded at 128 and higher, BUT… I took my mp3 files and encoded some of them at 96 and was able to fit a lot more onto the disks. The cool thing was there was no difference I could pick up between 96 and 128 on the player. But it made the difference in either putting 8 or 14 songs on that disk.
Plus, extra storage is cheap with the click disks being about 10 bucks a piece which is way cheaper than flash memory. I just stocked up on 10 more disks. I plan to use this at the gym or while travelling, so bringing along extra disks doesn’t bother me.
Anyways, I totally love this thing. For you guys who don’t have $300 + to shell out on a good mp3 player with decent memory and a rechargable battery, this is the player for you.
Oh yeah, forgot to tell you… the sound quality is GREAT. I recommend picking up a pair of quality headphones. At 2/3 volume level, this HipZip makes my ears BLEED. It pumps out some serious sound.
