I'm curious if anyone else has read "Learn Computer Game Programming with DirectX 7.0" by Dr. Ian Parberry? Like myself, it seems like a lot of people are trying to get started learning how to program videogames. I've been going at it for about a year and a half now and have found this book to be so useful. I first read "Sam's Teach Yourself C in 21 days", then "Sam's Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days", got through 14 of the "Sam's Teach Yourself Visual C++ in 21 days", and then tried to use the MORFIT 3D engine(I didn't have much success with MORFIT). After a few trips to different book stores I found this book and it really got me headed in the right direction. The game you learn to program is what appears to be a simple 2D one, but after seeing everything going on behind the scenes it gave me such an appreciation for the incredible 3D engines used today. Just wondering if anyone else has read it and what they thought.
