I finally got around to buying a book about Flash 5 - and the one I got was SAMS Teach Yourself... in 24 hours/lessons. I got that because it was cheap and I only really want a brief introduction to flash, without all that ActionScript fancy. I'll get into that later.

Anyone have any experience with this book? I have two other SAMS books, Photoshop and PHP4, but haven't really looked that much at them. They do look good though, if not a little less intuitive than some other books.

Thoughts?

you'll probably get more out of the tutorial included in Flash and the other tuts on macromedia.com.

The sam's books are just OK for graphics programs, they tend to offer a couple of nuggets of good stuff in a general blandness of tutorials. cheap they are, yes.

I would recommend the Visual Quickstart Guides for cheap books on graphics programs.

If you have the $$, the "friends of ed" books have interesting tutorials that go way beyond the usual "make the ducky move across the screen... make the ducky quack when you click..." I think the beginner book is called "foundation flash 5".

Flash rewards experimentation.
