questions about pfas / .fas files

At my work a bunch of the database files are of the type *.fas. No one seems to know anything about how these work except for the guy who wrote the original software and he isnt talking. I suspect he didnt come up with the type himself, and ive found some stuff about the pfas (pascal file access system?) that outputs .fas files. Are these one and the same, and if so any idea on where i could find some info about the standard formation of these files?

I think they are lisp files, like used for emacs and for a lot of CAD stuff (and many other purposes).

I think those are the compiled files, so they may not do you too much good.

Does this at all fit into your environment?

(could also be something else, I guess)

hmmm, sounds kinda like what weve got. they comprise the database files for hotels. we have one for the guest database, one for the transaction database, etc... i have some doubts as to wether they are comiled because we have programs that go into the actual fas files and reorganize the data by guests names.
