The classic side stroller adventure beat-em up is on sale for 160 points. I think it's usually 800. I just got it and highly recommend it.

What OS uses Java - not a simulation, actual Java

So for a new job, they are using software which is not compatible with Java 7. I need Java 6.x (because their software won't function in 7). Is there an OS (other than windows) which is also open source) that uses Java? I know android uses a Java like C++ script but I specifically need this 6.x Java. Worst case, I can roll back the JAVA in my Windows XP VM so I can keep Java 7.x for Windows 7.

Thoughts?

Casuals have been the battleground for MS, Sony, and Nintendo since the Wii exploded in the mainstream. Startups like Ouya are trying to cash in on casuals by pushing the price point down and opening the platform for cheap games.

With this in mind, I'm kind of surprised that I haven't heard much about Apple's announcement that the Apple TV now supports Bluetooth game controllers (controllers used to be read as keyboards) and added game specific API to the Apple TV SDK.

I think this could be huge and entirely destroy Ouya's momentum plus render the Xbox One's entertainment features as trivial for most people unless they want to hardcore game since the Apple TV does practically everything the One does for $99 except play high end games. Logitech is already working on a great looking controller. All Apple needs is to offer a pack-in version for $129 and the casuals will be set for life.

Maybe games can finally force us to 64-bit only OS's

Maybe this is the hallmark of game designers finally understanding that with consoles all having 8GB of RAM, PC games shouldn't be pandering to people with <4GB of RAM anymore.

Stupid batch file question

I know this sounds stupid, but here it goes. I've written a batch file that copies my working Outlook and archive PST files to a location on another hard drive for redundancy purposes. The batch file works fine, but there is something odd about the text during execution. I have a REM command with a brief description of what the batch file does, and a pause command that makes the batch file wait for a key to be pressed for execution. Now here is where it gets odd. The REM and pause command are showing up in the command window as text.

I wrote it in Notepad. It's not rich text, just a plain old text file. Any idea why these are showing up as text when the batch file is executed? I'm guess it's do to the way the command prompt is handled in Windows 7, but thought I'd ask.

Streaming Webcam Over Internet With VLC Player

I recently installed a D-Link IP security camera. I can access its admin and live view pages over my LAN and over the Internet. I can access its stream with VLC player over the LAN only. I cannot get that to work over the Internet. Here is the address I use for the LAN:

rtsp://192.168.0.161/play1.sdp

Here is the address I try to use over the Internet (external port 1599 is opened on my router):

rtsp://mydomain.com:1599/play1.sdp

The router logs show these connection attempts blocked despite the open port. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Nintendo 3DS (XL) owners a few questions...

I ordered a "Animal Crossing Limited Edition 3DS XL" for my daughter for her birthday.

Her old DS looked like it survived WWIII and stopped functioning a couple weeks ago.

So I have a few questions I need answered before the 22nd in regards to Accessories.

1) The European version doesn't come with a power cord / pack, will the old DS cord work? (Pretty sure the answer is no)

2) What are the best screen-saver foils in your opinion?

3) Recommend a good robust case, her old DS case is too small.
