From what Ive read some have very basic user configurability and just share the whole volume, and others will actually allow you to configure access to shared permission by folder instead of the whole volume. Can anyone recommend a good router to do this? Im not going to actually use the router for anything but a share point on an existing network.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello folks i have a problem that seems that no one knows for sure the answer to this problem , other than the regulars fixes that dont work.

Here goes , all im trying to do is get two W7 computers to network toghether.

Meaning is that i want to share files between the both of them.

Computer A = 2600k@3.7 , W7 64 sp1.

Computer B - 3770k @ 4.2 W7 64 sp1

After i set up a homegroup on both machines , on com A i set up a new homegroup and gives me a password , i then go to Com B to join the new homegruop set up by Com A useing the new password.

After i have joined at this point i go to start , fhen computrer , then i hit the network button to see if they both show up, and they do.

i will see Com A and Com B sitting there nicely.

Here is where im getting Super fed up with.

At this point as i said im looking at both Com A and Com B on the same workgroup (which i changed to FSX).

When im in Com A to look at Com B no problem i get the users folder to look at, no problem.

Its when i go to Com B to look at Com A i get uers name and password.

How is this possible , now i want you to know im doing the very basic in setting up a network, i have not shared any folders or drives at this point.

All i did was get both Coms A and B on the same network, i can see them but can only open one way and not the other.

how is that possible and why is it asking for a network password , What network password i never gave it one.

I know about turning on network , and turning off network password and all the fixins that go wth that , and i have looked high and low on the net , and i have spent many frustrating hours tring to figure out rhis problem.

What is going on with W7 that is giving me this head ache.

Thanks...........Robert
