The result has been power supply manufacturers scrambling to see if their power supplies can handle Haswell's requested 0.05A on the 12V rail as opposed to the ATX 2.3 minimum's 0.5A.

Basically, the new platform and CPU will enter a new extremely low power state if the PSU can handle it. (Apparently older PSU's can fail if the load on them drops below a certain threshold.)

At work we have GigE single and multimode SFP that are for Fujitsu multiplexer and Cisco ONS multiplexer that are used for service drops to customers.

With our contracts those SFP are cheaper than the netgear ones. Anyone know if SFP are cross vendor compatible?
I'm just wondering I didn't unpack my switch yet and don't want to mess it up by putting SFP from other vendors in if it potentially damage it.

Before I dive in, I'd like to know if there is anything huge coming up on the horizon that would be worth waiting for rather than plunging in now.

Right now, I'm leaning towards a Intel Core i7-3770K based system...would be my first Intel since 1999 :p (AMD seems to have fallen way behind Intel, no?)

Anyway, thanks to anyone who might offer advice :)
