IF you want to compare two systems in performace and processors what are some really good tests to run?
winmark 99, quake2 crusher, sysmark 2000 those ought to give you a decent idea of the performance capability of your machines.

The appropriate test(s) depend on what you do with it. If you play Quake all the time, a certain type of test woulld be appropriate. If you work on CAD, etc another type of test would be appropriate.

If they are two processors in similar machines, Q3 demo1 is always a good way to tell. Also check out SiSoft Sandra here. It is a nice benchmarking utility.Quote:

Its a Duron and a PIII
Use benchmarks that doesn't involve graphics, sound e.tc.
Games are bad benchmarks, and so is many synthetic benchmarks too. No benchmark is perfect.
Sisoft sandra is rather good on showing peak performance. Sysmark shows the average performance better.
Trying and running real applications is usually the best way to compare performance but doesn't give you any comparative numbers.
I belive if you want to test you CPU, use a program that works more with the Math Coprocessor and Geometry Calculations.
