Two Monitor Gaming

Ok, here is my problem.

I like having a 2 monitor setup. It is very handy when working in multiple applications.

I also know, that gaming does not work in this setup. I don't really care that it will not stretch the image, because that would probably look crappy anyway.

The problem I have is when I play games, it shuts down one monitor, and that is fine. But when I quit the game, the other monitor does not come back on till restart.

What I want to know is, does anyone have this setup? How do you avoid this problem?

If I run my Dual in Clone Mode where the game is shown on the each screen the same as the other (mirror image) when I come out of the game both monitors work fine. An extended Desktop could pose a problem due to a lack of acceleration on the second monitor though.

I just like the extra desktop space. The card runs in something like 3200x1600 when you extend (stretch) the desktop.

Then the game switches the resolution. I guess I'm sol. I'll just have to deal with the hardship of having two monitors :D

Hmm I've been running dual monitors for years and haven't ever run into that problem. I'm currently using a Ti4600...which card are you having the problem with? ;)

I was using the Gainward TI4600 (in fact, just received a new one back from Newegg :D ).

It runs fine, but when I go to a game, one monitor shuts down. That is fine too. Just when I quit the game, the other monitor would not come back. My Gainward was not stable, so maybe that had something to do with it? Anyway, I'm going to try it again today when I hook up the new gainward. Are there any special settings I should know about?

Not if you're using extended desktop in WinXP...as a matter of fact...my secondary monitor stays on while I'm gaming...it's where I keep my MBM5 gauges so I can keep an eye on temps...not that they need an eye kept on them as they rarely break 35C...it's a "comfort thing" he he ;)

I'll try it again. I received the Gainward yesterday. I think I am going to wait till I redo my system to hook up my 2nd monitor.

There have been 3 BIOS updates since I got my motherboard, and new AGP drivers, USB drivers, RAID drivers and a few other important ones. I just have to find the time.......:rolleyes:
