Far Cry Last Levels Discussion *WARNING: Spoilers*

I just finished the game. Man, the last two levels are hard. I kind of thought these levels and and the one where you have to take out Crowe's helicopter on the sinking ship were almost too hard.

The first part of the last level reminded me of a fps version of some Max Payne level, without bullet time, and much harder enimies. Just purely guns ablazing to go through. Now I thought this checkpoint was a blast even if hard.

I loved the game don't get me wrong, but those levels I thought bordered on tedious. For most of the game you could think your way through. These levels you just had to run, gun, and die MANY times trying.

(Maybe I just suck. :) )

Anyway, what are your opinions of these last couple levels?

The last few levels were hard ... I personally didnt like them that much. ie the levels around where you kill both scientists.

I thought they could have done something better with those levels.

The best levels were leading up to them and those seemed more like a rushed project.

I'm playing on the 2nd hardest setting, veteran, and when I met up with that helicopter I actually thought about looking for cheats, lol, and I never cheat. Once I figured out how to do it, I could probably do it ten times in a row without dying.
I'm half way through the next level now, this game just has legs, and I'm looking forward to the challange.

Playing shooters on-line(against real people)is real good training.

PS> how come bunny hopping doesnt work in farcry;)

Jusy curious, how did you take out Crowe's chopper? I ran up to the control room and eventually the chopper began hovering outside. I ran in and out of the control room nailing the chopper with the OICW's grenade launcher until the clip was empty, then stayed inside while reloading, and repeated this until I was out of OICW nades. Then I did the same with the rocket launcher. After a few rockets it was finished off.

I just read an awsome way to help on the last level where you go out the double doors into that crater with all the big rocket trigens and the jumpers.

Some guy said go back to the armory and push the chair onto the opening where the first of the double doors opens. This prevents it from closing behind you when you open the second one. Now you can go out in the crater and run back into the armory for health, ammo, and armor as often as you like.

I went back and tried this and it works! Wished I'd known about this before I got through this part, would have saved me time.:)

I tried that and I kept dying, I mean I died for hours, lol:p
What I did was, when you look off the back of the boat there are 2 shores you can swim too. 1 with a boat and another off to the right, tried the boat it didnt worked, explosion took all my health.
So the shoreline off to the right is closer so i was in shallow water when the boat blew up and didnt lose too much health. Then I just ran up to a big fat palm tree, stayed real close and kept it between me and the copter, and it did hover real close I pop out shoot a rocket, on veteran level, I had to shoot a lot of rockets but it was easy pickings there.:)
One more thing, I thought I won when he retreated and was saying "I'll get you later," so just for the heck of it I shot the copter with the sniper rifle, and it was a mile away, and it blew up :p

Yeah go to the shore, thats a great tip my buddy told me... I spent 30 minutes trying to kill Crowe.

Then I talked to him, and he's like yeah, I finally just jumped off the side and swam to the insland, a lot easier then.

I did that, and beat the helicopter my first try and he didn't even hit me once. Hug the palm tree. :p

The last part, in the crater... here's what I did. Loaded up on machine gun ammo and sniper ammo. went through the first door. Opened the second door then went back into the little alcove in between the doors and hid. Waited for the big fat boy trigun to come walk by, unload on his ***. Then the 4 other ones will come up and say "Someones killed him!" And they just stand there, peek through the little alcove with the Q button and kill them one by one.

Next walk out and snipe the jumppy triguns with guns... then walk down, and more fat boys will come. Run back up to the alcove in the doorway, and repeat, there should be only two. Get to the elevator and walk the bridge and unload every grenade you have (except 1) to kill the elite gaurds, then clean up the remaining (you'll probably die a few times) the mess grab there armor real quick.

Open the last door where the scientist dude is, and peek through and throw your last grenade, you'll either draw Doyle (scientist) or the guards, I was lucky enough to draw him out Doyle, and cap his ***, game over!!!

Thats great except, it's kind of hard to get a head shot on fully armored including head and riot shield + full body elite gaurds that have rocket launchers and shoot them faster than hell!!!!!!!!:p

Or walking mutant beast that shoot rockets faster than hell at you and take a thousand shots just to bring down. :p

Or walking, faster than hell mutant beast that shoot you and jump 100 feet in the air when your trying to shoot them. :p

I heard the ending sucks, but I hope I dont get there for a while,lol.
I'm on the very next level after doyle's copter, catacombs. Cleaned out the valley, entered the tunnel, or catacomb I guess, got killed, now I rest a bit cause I been going game crazy last few days.:p

The whole story sucks, so who gives a crap about the ending.

Cliched plot filled with crappy dialouge, been there done that, watch any half rate scienc fiction movie, and combine it with Jurssic park, and you have the story.

Didn't give a crap about the characters, and still could care less. The story was just there for an excuse to fight crap, thats it.

How long is the game? I think I read about 20 hours? I am on the "Steam" level- am I close to the end, or lots more goodness to go?

im past 20 hours already and I'm about 75% there, but it depends on what level of difficulty I suppose, kinda wished I picked an easier one at times.

I just replayed the level where you have to take out Crowe's helicopter, this time using your method of swimming to the island on the right.

The explosion took about 3/4 of my armor away, but I still had all my health. Insted of using the palm tree for cover like you, I went prone in the bush right beside the tree. Crowe's helicopter came in and began hovering around the bush, but he was not firing. I hit his chopper with all 15 of my OICW nades, then two rockets. That took out the chopper. Crowe never fired the whole time, it was cake.

You know I never even knew that gun fired grenades till I read it here. Damn, cause those rockets are so slow, and I gave up my shot gun for it.:( Didnt get it back till I cleared out the whole vally on the next level.

I was wondering is the next level, catacombs, one of the last?
