Another blasted HD dead... help!

Several months ago, my computer froze up admidst a download and I had to reboot. When I did, the motherboad no longer recognized the HD. (No motherboard recognizes the HD any more.) Also, the drive had no clicking noises.

Days later, I purchased another Western Digital 80GB hard drive only to have it do the same thing within 2 months! (Actually, this time I got a blue screen which said 'phyical memory dump' and some other junk, and then the bios would no longer recognize it.)

What's going on? Did I have two dog hard drives? Or could something in my computer be frying the electronics of the Hard Drives? Argggg!

Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

SATA or IDE? I recently read a review which mentioned a lot of the SATA adapters included with PSU's don't provide the right voltage for the drives.

It is an IDE drive.
