one-post review: Ergotron Neo-Flex LCD Stand

When I complained about the crappy stand on my Sceptre x22 LCD, XJ helpfully suggested I buy a replacement stand, suggesting the Ergotron Neo-Flex LCD Stand. I went ahead and bought it from amazon for about $42 with free super saver shipping.

You can find a product link here, where it's specced for 20" LCD or smaller, which gave me pause - but I figured for less than $50 there wasn't much to lose if my monitor turned out to be a wee-bit too wide.

was not height-adjustable, didn't rotate, and had only about 10 degrees of flex (and only backward, not forward).

The base is a large ring of steel with a plastic facade, which was much better than the molded plastic I expected:

The part that mounts to the LCD has multiple mount points - I imagine it should attach to almost any LCD monitor (screws and mounting plates included). There's a nice chunky spring to hold the monitor at whatever angle you want.

The manual is clear enough that you can assemble the whole thing in a minute or two, but all the chinese following the 1-2 sentences of english make me wonder what I'm missing:

In my case, mounting it to my LCD was as simple as pushing on the original stand:

Nice review. Hmm that stand looks pretty smexy. I think i'll grab 2 for my samsung widescreens. I always wanted rotatability...

Oh and by the way. Under the english, those are 3 different languages. Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. So don't worry, you're not missing anything.

actually, it's just clockwise - it doesn't rotate counterclockwise at all. my monitor's pretty much symmetrical so the lack of counterclockwise rotation don't bother me none.

i just figured out what they meant by the 270 degree rotate. the base is kind of a floating ring assembly - the metal part stays in one place while the entire stand rotates on some kind of sliding-bearing-whatever doohickey. my monitor's plugged in so i'm not inclined to flip it upside down to look, but here's an anigif:

also, the hole near the base is used for cable management. the DVI and power cables are now tucked nicely behind my monitor.
