New Idea!
I definitely just had a great idea for my grandparents for NEXT Christmas (due to my being poor right now). I was thinking about taking a an old, broken jukebox, putting a bare-bones system inside, and adding a touch screen for a retro cd/mp3 player. Any reasons this would be a horrible idea? Any suggestions for getting started?

Brilliant idea !!!
Ive been inspired recently to start ripping apart old machines and make complete customs ... Before I do though im gonna customise old standard cases for practise and fun ....
I remember a while ago a post on sharky to a guy who built a computer inside an old grammarphone .... I would suggest looking at other peoples builds to see how they started off ..... You shouldnt have any problems with room in a jukebox though!!
One thing is, can the jukebox be repaired to its original condition? If its an old/valuable one it might be worth more restoring it to its former glory if you can repair it ...

Not the same discussion as on sharky but an interesting custom build here with a piece of furniture roughly the same size ...

Reminds me of my Nostalgic PC. Should be a thread in here with some PICS.
Go for it I bet they would love it.

I definitely want to, and the hardware wouldn't even be that expensive since the only purpose is to play music. All I have to do is get a jukebox.

How about one of the Table top ones you see in Diners? They are kinda small but would be nice to convert over to a PC.
Something like this maybe.

The only ones I'm finding are cheap and chinsy or expensive antiques. I haven't checked ebay yet, though.

Might be a good place to try. Dont forget charity furniture shops and free ad papers. All places that people will sell them for a low price if they're not working ...
